Prime Minister and National Assembly Chairman receive Mongolian President

On the afternoon of November 2, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, who is on a state visit to Vietnam from November 1 to 5.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh warmly welcomed Mongolian President Khurelsukh, his wife and the high-ranking delegation of the Mongolian Government on a state visit to Vietnam; assessing the visit as having important significance, taking place on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2024 and bringing the traditional bilateral friendship to a new, substantive and effective stage of development.

President Khurelsukh expressed his pleasure to visit Vietnam again in his new position and congratulated the development achievements that the Vietnamese people have made in recent times. The Mongolian Government always attaches importance to the traditional friendship between Mongolia and Vietnam, considering Vietnam as Mongolia's leading important cooperative partner in Southeast Asia.

At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Mongolian President Khurelsukh discussed specific measures to enhance more substantive and effective cooperation in all fields, in line with the strengths and needs of both sides, commensurate with the good political relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister proposed setting a target of doubling bilateral trade turnover to 200 million USD in the coming years; strengthening investment promotion activities; expanding cooperation in diversifying raw material supply chains...

The Prime Minister welcomed the two sides for opening direct flights and signing an agreement on visa exemption for ordinary passport holders.

Mongolian President Khurelsukh expressed his wish to further strengthen and expand cooperation with Vietnam.

In the context of the rapidly evolving, complex and unpredictable global and regional situation, the two sides agreed to continue to cooperate closely and support each other at international and regional forums of mutual concern; share a common vision on ensuring security, safety, freedom of navigation and aviation in the East Sea; maintain a peaceful, stable environment, legal order and resolve maritime disputes by peaceful means, in accordance with international law, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982).

On the same day, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue also met with Mongolian President Khurelsukh.

National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated the President with a large delegation, including a vice chairman of the National Assembly and many parliamentarians, choosing Vietnam as the first country to visit at the state level in Southeast Asia since taking office, according to VNA.

The National Assembly Chairman thanked the Mongolian State and people for their valuable support to Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation and reunification and the current cause of national construction and defense. The National Assembly Chairman affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always attaches importance to and wishes to develop the friendly and cooperative relations with Mongolia to a new and higher level, through all channels of the Party, National Assembly, Government and people-to-people exchange.

During the visit, the two countries' senior leaders agreed to upgrade the Mongolia-Vietnam cooperative relationship to a "Comprehensive Partnership" on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2024.
