Within the framework of attending the expanded G7 Summit and working session in Hiroshima, Japan, on the afternoon of May 21, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received members of the National Assembly with constituencies in Hiroshima.
At the reception, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh expressed his delight at the strong, comprehensive and substantive development of the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership, the rapid development of exchanges between the two countries' parliaments and parliamentarians, and the cooperative and friendly relations between localities, including Hiroshima province.
The Prime Minister expressed his admiration for the aspiration for peace and efforts of the leaders and people of Hiroshima, shared the losses of Hiroshima during the war, and affirmed that Vietnam wishes to promote a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.
On this occasion, the Prime Minister thanked the Japanese National Assembly for always supporting the development of Vietnam-Japan relations; conveyed the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to visit Vietnam soon to the Speakers of the House of Representatives and the House of Councilors of Japan. The Prime Minister asked parliamentarians to support the bilateral relationship, contributing to enhancing exchanges and connections between the two countries' parliaments and parliamentarians in a sustainable, substantive and mutually beneficial manner; supported and urged the Japanese National Assembly and Government to further strengthen relations with Vietnam in all areas, including perfecting the legal system, sharing experiences in legal supervision; promoted the exchange of parliamentary delegations between the two countries, invited young parliamentarians to visit Vietnam and attend the 9th Global Young Parliamentarians Forum hosted by Vietnam this fall.
The parliamentarians expressed their honor to meet Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation; highly appreciated Vietnam's participation and active contribution to the success of the expanded G7 Summit in Hiroshima; admired the will and determination of the country and people of Vietnam; affirmed their desire to promote the Vietnam-Japan relationship in general and the cooperative relationship between Hiroshima and Vietnamese localities in particular; and actively participated in exchange and cooperation activities between the two countries' National Assemblies, including exchanges between female parliamentarians.
Congressman Hiroshi Hiraguchi, Chairman of the House of Representatives' Special Committee on Civil Servants' Lawmaking and Political Ethics, affirmed that Vietnam and Japan have many similarities, in that both countries have experienced war, wish to promote people-to-people exchanges, and that more and more Vietnamese people are coming to study and work in Hiroshima.
