Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Corinthians football club in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on the morning of September 24 (local time).
On the morning of September 24, local time, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited Corinthians football club - the second most traditional football team in Brazil, to promote football cooperation between the two countries.
Corinthians, founded in 1910, is one of the leading, most successful and most popular football clubs in Brazil and Latin America.
Corinthians has won many important titles, including several Brazilian national championships, the Brazilian Cup, 1 Copa Libertadores and 2 FIFA Club World Cups.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that many Vietnamese people know Brazil as a country with a unique Latin American culture and today it has become one of the world's major economies with a GDP of nearly 2,000 billion USD.
In particular, Vietnamese people are very passionate about football and admire Brazilian football.
The Brazilian national team, nicknamed Selecao, has won the world championship many times with its attacking philosophy, beautiful football, and "Samba dances on the field".
Brazilian football in every era has produced great players and football legends, such as Pele, Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo... who have long been in the hearts of Vietnamese football fans.
Emphasizing that the potential for cooperation in culture and sports, especially high-performance sports, including football, between the two countries is limitless, the Prime Minister said that the Vietnamese Government always pays attention to and creates favorable conditions to promote the field of physical education and sports in general and high-performance sports in particular, including football.
Vietnamese football has also made many impressive and encouraging strides and achievements in recent times.
The Prime Minister suggested that Brazil and Corinthians club increase cooperation activities and support Vietnam in developing football.
These include player training and coaching activities, especially improving players' physical strength and skills, improving management capacity, developing brands, mobilizing and managing resources, organizing competitions, as well as continuing to "export" Brazilian players to compete in Vietnam and Vietnamese players to compete in Brazil...
The Prime Minister expressed his hope that one day, fans of the two countries and the world can witness a world championship final between Vietnam and Brazil.
Corinthians thanked the Prime Minister and the Vietnamese delegation for their affection and attention to the club, as well as Brazilian football.
At the same time, he highly agreed with the Prime Minister's proposals and said he would actively carry out cooperation activities and support Vietnam, thereby contributing to promoting the good relations between the two countries and the affection and understanding of the two peoples for each other.
