Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presided over the welcoming ceremony for the Lao Prime Minister's visit to Vietnam.

(Dan Tri) - After the official welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone entered into high-level talks, together witnessing the signing of many important documents between the two governments.

On the morning of January 6, at the Presidential Palace, a ceremony was held to welcome Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his wife, following the highest protocol reserved for foreign heads of government visiting Vietnam. The visit of the Lao Prime Minister and his wife began on January 6-7 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The national anthems of Vietnam and Laos were played, and the two Prime Ministers and delegations and government officials of the two countries performed the flag-saluting ceremony.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh invited Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone to review the honor guard of the Vietnam People's Army.

This is also the first official visit of Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone in his new position. During this visit, the Prime Ministers of the two countries will co-chair the 46th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee.

After the welcoming ceremony, the Prime Ministers of the two countries and their wives took a group photo in the main hall of the Government Headquarters.

The visit of the Lao Prime Minister and his wife took place in the context of Vietnam - Laos relations achieving many positive results, contributing significantly to maintaining political stability, socio-economic development, and bringing many practical benefits to the people of the two countries.

Political and diplomatic relations continue to be strengthened, increasingly close and trustworthy. The two sides regularly maintain high-level contacts and exchanges on all channels. Defense and security cooperation continues to be an important pillar in the Vietnam - Laos relationship. In particular, agreements between the two countries' Ministries of Defense and Public Security have been well implemented; the two sides closely coordinate in border management and protection, contributing to maintaining political stability, security and social order in each country.

At the Government headquarters, the two leaders witnessed the signing of a number of cooperation documents on national defense and security, economy, education, etc. between the Ministries and Branches of the two Governments.
