On July 2, Hungarian government spokesman Bertalan Havasi confirmed that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban had arrived in Ukraine that morning.

This is Mr. Orban's first visit to Ukraine since military conflict broke out in Hungary's eastern neighbor in February 2022.
The AP news agency said the visit took place just one day after Hungary officially assumed the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union (EU).
In Kiev, Prime Minister Orban is expected to meet with senior officials of the host country, including President Volodymyr Zelensky, to discuss the chances of achieving peace in Ukraine and current issues in bilateral relations.
Previously, at the EU Summit in Brussels, Belgium, at the end of June, Prime Minister Orban also had a sideline meeting with President Zelensky.
Hungary has repeatedly blocked, delayed or watered down EU efforts to extend aid to Ukraine and punish Russia since the conflict began, with Mr Orban’s government opposed to sending more weapons to Kiev.
A day earlier, the head of the Hungarian government said that if Donald Trump wins the US presidential election, there will be a ceasefire in Ukraine.
"Whether this will lead to lasting peace is unknown, but it will certainly not be the same as it is now. And that is why Europe needs to quickly prepare for the possibility that the United States and Russia will sooner or later start negotiating with each other," Prime Minister Orban said in an interview with M1 TV channel.
Besides, according to the leader of the EU member state, Europe should ask itself "what is its position in this division?", "who represents its interests and what are those interests?".
