Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked the UAE to support Vietnam in developing Halal industry and services, i.e. products that comply with Islamic regulations.
During a meeting with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on June 14, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that the two sides need to complete negotiations on the Vietnam-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) as soon as possible.
The Prime Minister also proposed that the UAE support Vietnam in developing the Halal industry and services, investing in product manufacturing and building cooperation mechanisms on Halal certification in Vietnam, thereby contributing to increasing bilateral trade turnover, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Halal is an Arabic word meaning lawful or permitted. In Islam, the term refers to a product or action that is permitted. Halal certification is an internationally recognized certification program for products or services that comply with Islamic regulations.
