Sharing Vietnam’s socio-economic development policies and strategies, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized Vietnam’s high priority in developing strategic road and railway infrastructure. The Prime Minister asked AIIB to continue supporting Vietnam in mobilizing resources to implement large, symbolic projects such as the Lao Cai – Hanoi – Hai Phong and Lang Son – Hanoi standard gauge railways; and requested AIIB to provide preferential loans, technology transfer and human resource training to implement these important projects.
AIIB President Jin Liqun highly agreed with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's proposals, emphasizing the importance and spillover effects of large-scale infrastructure projects on connectivity, improving logistics capacity and socio-economic development in localities, thereby attracting more high-quality investment capital into Vietnam.
Mr. Kim Lap Quan affirmed that AIIB will continue to accompany and support Vietnam in mobilizing resources to develop key infrastructure, ensuring energy for the operation of high-speed railway lines; participating in transport infrastructure projects, healthcare, climate change adaptation and energy transition in the Mekong sub-region.
The two sides agreed to establish working groups to conduct pre-feasibility studies for cooperation projects; strengthen the connection between Vietnam's "Two Corridors, One Belt" Initiative and China's "Belt and Road" Initiative; and jointly promote the AIIB to become a prestigious and highly effective regional development bank that meets the practical needs and interests of member countries.
