According to reports from Quang Ninh province, EVN and TKV, in May and early June, the intense heat increased the demand for household electricity, with electricity consumption increasing by 17% compared to the same period in 2022. Meanwhile, some main power supply sources for the North were mobilized at low levels, and little rainfall caused serious water shortages in hydroelectric reservoirs. Accordingly, EVN had to implement a number of solutions to reduce electricity consumption by rotating power cuts, promoting propaganda on energy-saving operations, etc.
TKV directs units to ensure adequate coal supply for electricity production.
To ensure the supply and meet the demand for coal consumption and electricity production, TKV has directed the management to boost production, increase coal output, and meet enough coal for thermal power. Specifically, in May, TKV produced 3.41 million tons of raw coal; consumed 4.66 million tons of coal. In the first 5 months of the year, TKV produced 16.83 million tons of raw coal, reaching 43% of the yearly plan, equal to 90% compared to the same period in 2022. Coal consumption reached 20.41 million tons, reaching 44% of the yearly plan. TKV affirmed that the group's main production and business targets in the first 5 months of 2023 continued to be maintained stably and increased compared to the same period in 2022 and achieved many positive results. In the first 5 months of the year, TKV's revenue is estimated at 70,150 billion VND, reaching 41.6% of the yearly plan, equal to 108.9% compared to the same period in 2022.
In addition, TKV has directed the Electricity Corporation - TKV to focus on producing and supplying electricity for consumption needs in the context of many difficulties in domestic electricity supply; closely monitor the operation of power plants; speed up the repair of equipment and generators. In the first 5 months of the year, TKV's power plants all operated at full capacity; the electricity output of the Electricity Corporation - TKV in the first 5 months of the year reached over 3.8 billion kWh, equal to 40.3% of the yearly plan; revenue reached over 5,100 billion VND; profit reached 518 billion VND.
