(Dan Tri) - The plan for universities to convert their admission methods to the same scale is of interest to many parents. According to the leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training, this is very necessary to unify the system.

Convert to a scale for fairness

Responding to reporters at the "Career Guidance and Admissions Consulting Day 2025" held in Hanoi, Mr. Hoang Minh Son, Deputy Minister of Education and Training, said that this year many universities changed their admission combinations, so the admission regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training are also flexible.

It is expected that this year there will be no limit on the number of admission combinations, so the Deputy Minister's advice is that students should study according to their strengths and that schools will recruit according to their requirements, and the software system will select the best information for candidates.

Regarding concerns that this year schools will have to convert university admission methods to the same scale, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training said that there are currently two benchmarks: High school graduation exam scores and other benchmarks (such as academic transcript scores or scores from thinking and capacity assessment exams).

"We immediately ask the question: "Why are there these two benchmarks?" Obviously, there must be equivalence between these two benchmarks, and cannot be based on the number of quotas set by the schools.

Therefore, it is necessary to convert or determine these two benchmarks to be equivalent to ensure fairness for candidates with equivalent abilities.

The Ministry of Education and Training is working with a number of universities to develop guidelines to ensure consistency in the system while ensuring diversity in autonomy according to the requirements of each profession," Deputy Minister Son said.

Candidates consider strengths to choose a major

The largest ever career counseling and admissions fair in Hanoi, with the participation of nearly 20,000 students, nearly 90 universities, colleges, and intermediate schools, and nearly 300 direct counseling booths.

According to Mr. Hoang Minh Son, this year is a special milestone, when the first students studying under the 2018 general education program will take the high school graduation exam.

Faced with this innovation, the Ministry of Education and Training has also planned innovative directions in enrollment, aiming to increase transparency, fairness and improve the quality of teaching in general schools.

"Choosing a career today is not just a personal decision. Therefore, students need to consider carefully based on their passion, ability and the practical needs of society in the future.

Be proactive in equipping yourself with necessary skills such as foreign languages, digital skills, critical thinking and a spirit of lifelong learning to continuously improve," said Mr. Son.

According to him, in the journey of growing up, the role of family is irreplaceable. Students need to accompany, listen and guide their parents to make appropriate decisions.

He hopes that parents should not impose personal desires on their children, but should explore their interests and strengths with them and support them in choosing a career that suits their abilities and ambitions.

Regarding the new points for the first batch of candidates taking the high school exam after studying the 2018 general education program, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training said that the changes in this year's admissions are only technical for schools to comply with.

Students only need to care about how to participate in exams with the best results, and the software system will only bring the best favorable conditions to candidates.

Regarding the abolition of early admission, the Deputy Minister of Education and Training said that while previously students had to participate in many admission exams, this year candidates only need to focus on one exam. At the same time, students must consider their own abilities to choose a suitable career.
