Accordingly, in November 2024, the situation of smuggling, trade fraud, and illegal transportation of goods across the border continued to be complicated, with a decrease in the number of cases (down 19.01%) but an increase in the value of goods (up 140.3%) compared to the same period in 2023; an increase in administrative violations.

State budget revenue from handling violations increased by 1,084 cases (up 242% over the same period in 2023). Of which, the number of violations on the sea route increased sharply, accounting for 55.1% of the number of cases detected, arrested and handled, up 705.26% over the same period in 2023. The number of violations on the road route decreased by 70.02%; on the air, express delivery and postal routes also decreased by 37.7% over the same period in 2023.

Cases with signs of criminality decreased, the number of cases transferred for prosecution decreased by 53 cases, down 76.8% compared to the same period in 2023. However, in areas outside the border gate in industrial zones, there is a situation of using tax-exempt goods for the wrong purpose without declaring the change of purpose to customs authorities to evade taxes.

Illegal trading and transportation of firecrackers and white sugar continue in the Central provinces and the Vietnam-Laos border. In the areas bordering Vietnam-China and Vietnam-Cambodia, trading and transportation of goods without invoices or documents proving their origin are still complicated, especially for frozen foods, consumer goods, cigarettes and tobacco leaves. Illegal transportation of goods, currency and gold across the border shows signs of increasing in the Southwestern border (border gates in An Giang province).

The General Department of Customs said that in November 2024, the entire Customs sector detected, arrested and handled 1,666 cases of violations of Customs laws, with an estimated value of infringing goods of VND 2,987 billion. 16 cases were transferred to other agencies for prosecution. The amount collected for the State budget was VND 155.9 billion.

In the first 11 months of 2024, the Customs sector detected, arrested and handled 16,390 cases of violations of Customs laws, with an estimated value of infringing goods of VND 29,273 billion. The Customs agency prosecuted 24 cases and transferred 157 cases to other agencies for prosecution. The amount collected for the State budget was VND 901.58 billion.

Regarding the results of the fight against drugs in November 2024: The entire Customs sector presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard forces to detect and arrest 15 cases/16 subjects, of which the Customs agency presided over 7 cases.

The seized exhibits included 106.9 kg of various drugs. In the 11 months of 2024, the Customs sector presided over and coordinated with the Police and Border Guard to detect and arrest 275 cases/328 subjects, of which the Customs agency presided over 105 cases. The seized exhibits were 2.08 tons of various drugs.
