Thu Huyen - Tan Minh: A talented couple awarded the title of People's Artist

Sharing about this joy, People's Artist Thu Huyen said: "This year, nearly 400 artists were awarded the title of People's Artist and Meritorious Artist, which is a common joy for all artists in Vietnam. But for me, this awarding occasion is very special because my husband (Artist Tan Minh) and I were awarded the title of People's Artist together. This is an extremely great happiness and honor for our family."

People's Artist Thu Huyen shared: "When we first started our artistic career, artist Tan Minh and I always kept in mind that we had to devote all our abilities to art and bring the best things to the public. Therefore, we have always worked together to improve ourselves and our skills to create good works and good roles for the audience. And today, when those contributions have been recognized by the State and the public, we are extremely happy and grateful. The title of People's Artist is the motivation for my husband and I to continue to strive to devote ourselves to the country's art industry."

Tan Minh was born in 1972 in Nam Dinh. At the age of 16, he won a singing contest and decided to enter the Hanoi Conservatory of Music (now the Vietnam National Academy of Music). In the late 90s, he became famous with the song "Phuong Hong" on Vietnam Television, then became extremely popular with the audience with his debut album "The First Love Letter" with technical advice from musician Do Bao.

In 2015, he was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist. Also in this year, Tan Minh became the Director of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater, replacing musician Trong Dai. During his tenure, the Theater won many gold and silver medals at the National Professional Music and Dance Festival.

Tan Minh is one of the famous singers with passionate, romantic and emotional love songs. Songs associated with his name include: First Love Letter, Phoenix, Mother, First Love, You and Me, I Lull You to Sleep, Longing for Hanoi...

Meanwhile, Thu Huyen is widely known to the public for her role as Thi Mau in the ancient Cheo play Quan Am Thi Kinh. Her chance to enter the arts began at the age of 14 (1989), when she registered for the Children's Voice Contest at the Hanoi Children's Palace. An artist there highly appreciated Thu Huyen's Cheo singing voice and advised the artist's mother to let her audition for the Hanoi Cheo Theater.

In 1998, with the role of Thi Mau, Thu Huyen won first prize in the National Young Stage Talent Competition. She also had a number of other successful roles such as: Thi Phuong in Truong Vien, Co Son in Co Son, Xuy Van in Xuy Van pretending to be crazy, Hoan Thu in Kieu.

In addition to Cheo art, her Bac Ninh folk songs also left a strong impression on the public such as Xe chi thong kim, Vao chu, Di cach, Lung lieng, Hoa thom buom luong... Currently, Thu Huyen is the Deputy Director of Hanoi Cheo Theater.

Married since 2004, Tan Minh - Thu Huyen have always been considered a beautiful couple in the art world. Despite difficulties, they always accompany and support each other on the path of artistic development. People's Artist Tan Minh shared: "When a family has both husband and wife working as artists, I think it will be more difficult than other families. Because the working hours of artists will not be fixed, there are days when we have to perform until late at night before returning home, or on holidays, we always have to tour in the provinces to serve the audience, so we cannot be close to our families or children. However, there are also advantages, that is, although we work in different artistic fields, because we are both artists, we have a very accurate and strict eye for art. Therefore, when my wife has a new play, I am the first to judge. And when I produce an album, do a live show, my wife also participates in supporting. Through that, we always listen to each other's opinions to perfect the best works for the public."

Besides, not only being successful in the performance field, but also as Deputy Director of Hanoi Cheo Theater and Director of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater, People's Artist Thu Huyen and People's Artist Tan Minh, together with the artists of the Theater where they work, have tried their best to do the best for the theater and bring art closer to the public.

People's Artist Thu Huyen shared: "At Hanoi Cheo Theater, there is a very correct policy of creating the most favorable conditions for young artists to contribute and shine on stage. Therefore, I am both an artist and a manager, I will continue to try to encourage, inspire, energize and share my enthusiasm and experience to help them improve themselves, improve their skills to help them shine the brightest on stage. Thereby, contributing to helping young artists have more love for traditional arts, especially Cheo art, to create good works, bringing Cheo closer to the public".
