Thu Huyen - Tan Minh: A rare couple who both received the title of People's Artist, 20 years without arguing

According to Decision No. 1431/QD-CTN signed byPresident Vo Van Thuong on November 28, 42 individuals were awarded the title of People's Artist in the second round. Meritorious Artist Tan Minh is one of 42 individuals with outstanding achievements in this round of awards.

Meanwhile, his wife, Meritorious Artist Thu Huyen - Deputy Director of Hanoi Cheo Theater, is also on the list of 77 artists awarded the title of People's Artist according to Decision 724/QD-CTN signed by the President on June 22.

The talented couple of the Northern art village

Singer Tan Minh's full name is Huynh Tan Minh, born in 1972 in Nam Dinh . He lost his father when he was only 15 years old. At 16, he went to Hanoi after winning a prize in the Student Singing Contest. He entered the Hanoi Conservatory of Music, now the Vietnam National Academy of Music.

After graduating from the Vocal Department of the Vietnam National Academy of Music with a perfect score, he worked at the Thang Long Music and Dance Theater. In 1998, Tan Minh won the Asian '98 Golden Voice Award.

Tan Minh became famous in the late 90s with the song Phuong Hong on Vietnam Television, but it was not until his debut album Buc Thu Tinh Dau (First Love Letter) under the technical advice of musician Do Bao that he truly became successful and made a strong mark in his career.

In 2004, he married Cheo artist Thu Huyen. During this time, he was the Deputy Head of the Light Music Troupe of Thang Long Song and Dance Theater.

On November 16, 2014, he held his first solo live show to celebrate 20 years of singing called Tan Minh in the spotlight at the Vietnam - Soviet Union Friendship Cultural Palace.

He was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist in 2015. Also in this year, Tan Minh became the Director of Thang Long Music and Dance Theater, replacing musician Trong Dai.

During his time running the Theater, he won gold medals for several plays: 3 gold medals, 3 silver medals, best director, best musician at the 2nd National Professional Music and Dance Festival in 2018.

He has been a grassroots Emulation Fighter for many years with Certificates of Merit, and was one of 649 citizens of the Capital awarded the title "Good People, Good Deeds" by the Hanoi People's Committee.

Talking about this, Tan Minh once shared with Dan Tri reporter that he never does that but works directly with the work, researching to know what the author is writing and what he wants to convey. He tries to follow the author's intentions, ideas, and techniques.

"In fact, performing a complete work requires a lot of things to achieve emotion. It requires understanding the work, the circumstances of its creation, the current situation at the time of its creation, having musical knowledge...

With that, I try to be flexible with my emotions and understanding of real life. Because the most important thing is how I convey my emotions to the audience," he confided.

Tan Minh said that with each song, he always sings very honestly and simply according to his own way of thinking, trying to convey the song's message in the most natural way.

If Tan Minh is a scholar and talented, then Thu Huyen - his wife is also famous for being talented and beautiful. Thu Huyen was born in 1975 in Hanoi in a family where no one was active in the arts, but she loved singing Cheo since she was a child.

She has a petite figure. At the age of 16 (1991), Thu Huyen won the special prize of the Hanoi Young Stage Talent Contest for her role as Thi Mau.

At the age of 17 (1992), she graduated from the Intermediate Cheo School of Hanoi Cheo Theater and began her Cheo acting career.

In her career as a Cheo performer, Thu Huyen became famous for her role as Thi Mau in the ancient Cheo play Quan Am Thi Kinh . With eyes that were compared to being as sharp as areca knives, plus buck teeth and a mole on the corner of her lips, Thu Huyen made Thi Mau the most flirtatious figure in Vietnamese folklore.

In 1998, with the role of Thi Mau, Thu Huyen once again won first prize in the National Young Stage Talent Competition.

She also had a number of other successful roles such as: Thi Phuong in Truong Vien , Co Son in Co Son, Suy Van in Suy Van pretending to be crazy , Hoan Thu in Kieu . She won many gold and silver medals in performance festivals.

In 2002, she ran for the 11th National Assembly of Vietnam (2002-2007). In addition to the art of Cheo, her Bac Ninh folk songs also left a strong impression on the public such as Xe chi thong kim , Vao chua , Di cach , Lung lieng , Hoa thom buom luong .

Marriage of nearly 2 decades without a single argument

Not only successful in their careers, Thu Huyen - Tan Minh couple also makes the public admire for their strong and fulfilling marriage for nearly 2 decades.

The two knew each other for 10 years and were friends before getting married (in 2004). Currently, the couple has an admirable family with 2 sons: Minh Nam (born 2005) and Minh Khoi (born 2010).

Recently, on her wedding anniversary, on her personal page, Thu Huyen posted a photo of her happy family of four with the caption: "There are moments that will completely change your life. There are things that seem like yesterday but have been 19 years. 19 years is quite a long time, I just feel "okay"."

Previously, talking to Dan Tri reporter, the female artist shared that in 30 years of being together: from knowing each other to being friends, then falling in love and getting married , they have never once had a conflict or a loud argument.

Talking about the secret to keeping the family warm and harmonious when both are artists and bosses, Thu Huyen said that she and her husband both understand that family is the most important thing, so they always try to arrange things harmoniously.

Back home, the couple spend time talking, supporting each other with household chores, taking care of their two sons, and sharing the joys and sorrows of life. That is the motivation for both of them to complete the tasks they are shouldering.

Talking about her life partner - Meritorious Artist Tan Minh, Thu Huyen revealed that her husband is a calm person, does not often say flowery words to his life partner but is very sincere.

Tan Minh also shared with Dan Tri reporter that he thinks men can keep their heads very cool but their hearts must be warm. That is the key to keeping the family warm.

Because if the heart is warm, the family will be warm, but if it is cold, the family will be very cold. Whether a family is happy or not also depends a lot on that.

"In the past, I focused on everyday and long-term things rather than unrealistic romance. But now that I'm older, I feel romance in a different way. I feel that my gestures, even though they are not verbal, are also a way to express romance.

I rarely flatter my wife with words but show it through practical actions and deeds," Tan Minh said.

Thu Huyen also shared that her husband has never raised his voice or scolded her. When she is upset and speaks loudly, her husband will be silent. And when she sees that her husband does not say anything, she has to look back at herself and feel that her raising her voice is not right.

For Thu Huyen, happiness is doing the job she loves and is passionate about, living and dedicating herself to her job, being respected by everyone, having a harmonious family and obedient children.
