(NLDO) - The Ministry of Health said it is making efforts to put the second facility of Viet Duc and Bach Mai Hospitals into use in 2025.
On the afternoon of January 8, at the regular Government press conference, Deputy Minister of Health Do Xuan Tuyen answered questions from journalists regarding the progress of the two projects of Bach Mai Hospital and Viet Duc Hospital, Facility 2 in Ha Nam province.

According to Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen, the investment project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital was implemented in 2014 according to Decision No. 125/QD-TTg dated January 16, 2014 of the Prime Minister.
The leader of the Ministry of Health said that the Prime Minister's approval of the implementation of the two projects is consistent with the general policy on the orientation of caring for, protecting and improving people's health, especially how to bring high-quality medical services closer to the people as quickly and effectively as possible and reduce the burden on central hospitals.
The project is divided into EPC packages (Engineering, Construction, Supply and Installation of Equipment), which is a very new type of investment, implemented since 2014. However, during the implementation process, the project encountered some difficulties and problems, leading to the contractor stopping construction from January 2021.
According to Mr. Do Xuan Tuyen, recently, the Government, the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Health and relevant ministries have actively researched and reviewed to propose solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles for projects.
In 2023, the Prime Minister decided to establish an interdisciplinary working group to advise the Prime Minister, with the Minister of Health as the head of the group and leaders of the Ministries of Planning and Investment, Construction, Justice, and Finance as members.
From February 2023 to present, the Government, the Prime Minister, and the Ministry of Health have organized more than 20 Working Group meetings to discuss solutions to resolve those difficulties and problems; the Prime Minister alone chaired 3 meetings of the Government Standing Committee.
The Deputy Prime Ministers chaired many meetings to listen to the Ministry of Health and related ministries, sectors, investors and contractors to review the difficulties and obstacles of the two projects, from which to study and propose solutions to handle existing problems and obstacles.
"Based on the results of the review meetings, the Government Office's announcement dated November 27, 2024 clearly stated that it acknowledged the positive efforts of the Working Group in the past time and tried to complete the removal of obstacles for these two projects," said Mr. Tuyen.
According to Deputy Minister Do Xuan Tuyen, up to now, following the direction of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Health, the Working Group has completed a plan to resolve difficulties and problems related to these two projects, and submitted it to the Government on January 6, 2025.
The Ministry of Health leader added that since the beginning of November 2024, the contractor has started construction again. The Ministry of Health will continue to direct the investor and construction units to actively coordinate with ministries and branches to implement solutions to remove difficulties and obstacles after receiving instructions from competent authorities. "We will try to complete and put the project into operation in 2025," said Mr. Tuyen.
On the same day, January 8, the Government Inspectorate announced its decision to inspect the investment project to build the second facility of Bach Mai Hospital and the second facility of Viet Duc Friendship Hospital.
