Vietnam News Agency and Kyodo News sign agreement on professional cooperation

VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang welcomed the Kyodo News delegation to visit and work in Vietnam, in coordination with VNA to organize the photo exhibition "Vietnam-Japan: Towards the future, reaching the world ."

General Director Vu Viet Trang affirmed that this is a meaningful and practical activity to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations; hoping that the selected photos will inspire viewers, contributing to bringing the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership to new heights.

Introducing VNA, General Director Vu Viet Trang said that on October 26, 2022, the Vietnamese Government issued a Decree stipulating the functions, tasks, powers and organizational structure of VNA, affirming the role of VNA as a key multimedia media agency. VNA currently has more than 2,000 employees, including more than 1,000 reporters and editors, providing more than 60 information products in 10 languages ​​and many types.

In the context of the public seeking information on social networks instead of accessing the press, VNA on the one hand still firmly maintains the core values ​​of journalism, which are objectivity, accuracy, and timeliness, while on the other hand continues to strive to improve professionalism in its operations.

Kyodo News President Toru Mizutani stated that VNA is the partner with the longest and deepest friendship with Kyodo News. VNA and Kyodo have established a cooperative relationship since the 1980s.

In every stage of development, VNA and Kyodo have always provided each other with effective support and assistance in both bilateral cooperation and multilateral forums, helping the two agencies fulfill their communication mission, providing authentic, fast, and modern sources of information to the public of the two countries, and spreading information to the whole world.

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the results of bilateral cooperation and proposed cooperation contents in the new period.

VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang and Kyodo News President Toru Mizutani signed a professional cooperation agreement. Accordingly, VNA will provide Kyodo with Vietnamese and English news and photos with English captions free of charge; Kyodo News will provide VNA with Japanese and English news and photos with English captions free of charge for each side's external propaganda purposes.

The two sides continue to support each other's resident reporters and representative agencies in Hanoi and Tokyo, creating conditions for reporters to objectively and comprehensively reflect the situation in the host country, bilateral relations, and important regional and international events taking place in each country.

The two sides exchange delegations of news agency leaders every year to discuss measures to enhance media cooperation, share professional experience, and discuss measures to further improve their roles as key news agencies in each country in providing information to the press system.

The two sides agreed to support each other at multilateral forums such as the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA), of which both sides are members...
