Currently, more than 230 schools have announced admission threshold scores based on high school graduation exam scores. The threshold scores of schools range from 14 to 24.5 points, with the highest scores in the fields of education and medicine.
In addition to Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Banking Academy, Hanoi Open University is also expected to announce admission results on August 17 or 18.
Many other schools such as Hanoi University of Industry, Posts and Telecommunications Institute of Technology... are expected to be announced on August 19.
According to a math teacher in Hanoi, this year's high school graduation exam scores for most subjects with scores above 5 have increased. Along with that, the rate of university admission based on graduation scores has also decreased. This predicts that the 2024 benchmark score will increase.

This teacher predicts that in block (combination) A00 (math, physics, chemistry) and D01 (math, literature, English), the benchmark score may increase by 0.5-1 point.
The benchmark scores for block A01 (math, physics, English) and B00 (math, chemistry, biology) may increase by 0.2-0.5 points. The benchmark score increases the most in block C00 (literature, history, geography) by 0.5-1.5 points.
Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Dinh Duc Hien, Vice Principal of FPT Bac Giang Inter-level School, shared that the score distribution of traditional exam blocks such as A, B, A1, C, D all shifted to the right, the average and median scores both increased compared to 2023.
At the same time, universities today have proactively implemented many enrollment plans, causing the enrollment quota based on high school graduation exam scores to decrease.
Therefore, Mr. Hien predicts that the benchmark scores of the groups are unlikely to decrease, and the top schools will remain the same or increase slightly compared to 2023.
Given this year's exam scores, some universities have made initial predictions about this year's admission scores.
Representatives of Hanoi Medical University predict that the benchmark scores for Medicine and Dentistry may be above 28, because the quota considered entirely by high school graduation exam scores has decreased and the score range has increased.
In addition to the two majors above, the admission scores for other majors of this school based on the high school graduation exam scores are expected to be higher than last year because the school has increased the admission quota for the combination of high school graduation exam scores and international language certificates. Therefore, the admission rate based entirely on high school graduation exam scores is only 60%, about 20% less than last year.

Immediately after the high school graduation exam results were released, Hanoi University of Science and Technology predicted the admission scores for 64 training programs enrolling in 2024. The predicted scores for these majors in 2024 increased slightly compared to 2023 by about 0.75 points.
Specifically, in 2024, the training program of Hanoi University of Science and Technology has the highest predicted benchmark score in the field of Information Technology with majors: Computer Science (IT1), Computer Engineering (IT2) and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (IT-E10).
Also according to the forecast, the lowest benchmark score based on the high school graduation exam results is between 20-22.75 points. The majors in this group are Environmental Engineering (EV1), Natural Resources and Environment Management (EV2), Materials Science and Engineering (MS-E3), and Textile Technology (TX1).
In particular, some schools in the pedagogical sector have just announced a reduction in enrollment quotas for many majors, making the benchmark scores of these majors likely to be high.
Specifically, at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, many majors have reduced their quotas by up to 90%, such as Physics Pedagogy (from 244 to 20 quotas), History Pedagogy (from 165 to 31 quotas).
Thai Nguyen University of Education also adjusted its quota, including some majors reduced by half compared to the plan, such as Chemistry Pedagogy or Physics Pedagogy...
Can Tho University also reduced its quota from the initial 1,090 to 624, in which some majors have decreased sharply such as Mathematics Education (from 100 to 31 quotas), Physics Education, Chemistry Education (from 60 to 20 quotas)...
According to the Ministry of Education and Training's admission schedule, the virtual screening process will take place from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17. After this time, schools can announce the benchmark scores and admission results to candidates.
By 5:00 p.m. on August 19 at the latest, universities and colleges must complete the announcement of benchmark scores and first round of admission results.
