On the morning of June 11, Thieu Hoa district held a ceremony to launch the National Swimming Practice to Prevent Drowning and the 2nd Swimming and Diving Competition - 2023.

The ceremony was attended by nearly 400 representatives of district leaders, departments, branches, unions at district level and communes, towns, people from all walks of life, along with a large number of students, teachers, coaches, and athletes in Thieu Hoa district.

Thieu Hoa district leaders launched a campaign for all people to practice swimming to prevent drowning and opened a swimming and diving competition.
At the ceremony, the representative of Thieu Hoa district launched the movement of the whole people practicing swimming to prevent drowning in the whole district; at the same time, calling on families, schools, and all levels of unions, teams, individuals, and businesses to pay attention and create conditions for children and adolescents to practice swimming, self-defense skills, and safe swimming skills to prevent drowning. Thereby, constantly promoting the development of the swimming teaching and learning movement, creating a useful and healthy playground, improving health, physical fitness, stature, and preventing drowning for children, adolescents, and students, especially during the summer of this year.

After the launching ceremony, athletes entered the competition at the 2nd Thieu Hoa District Swimming and Diving Tournament - 2023. The tournament had the participation of more than 60 athletes from 19 delegations, from communes, towns, agencies, units, and sports clubs in the area. Athletes competed in the individual freestyle swimming events for men and women with a distance of 50m in the age groups of 10-12, 13-14, and 15-17. The tournament had a total of 6 sets of medals.

Due to careful preparation, the participating delegations have invested in selecting good athletes, which has contributed to improving the quality and performance of the athletes, as well as the attractiveness of the competitions. The Organizing Committee has also ensured the conditions of facilities, equipment, tools, and refereeing for the tournament to take place successfully.
At the end of the tournament, the organizing committee awarded medals and prizes to athletes who achieved high rankings in each competition. Regarding the overall results, the first prize went to Hong Ha Swimming Club. The second and third prizes went to Minh Tam and Thieu Vien communes.

Through the tournament, Thieu Hoa district will select excellent athletes to participate in provincial tournaments. At the 2023 Thanh Hoa province swimming and diving tournament held in Nong Cong on June 3 and 4, Thieu Hoa district excellently won second place overall.
