On June 1, candidates from Da Nang came to the exam site to listen to the announcement of the regulations for the 10th grade entrance exam.

Losing sleep because of worry and racing to review

In contrast to the relaxed and confident mentality of candidates applying for their first choice to schools considered "top", this year, many candidates applying to middle and lower-ranked schools appear very worried.

Candidate Tuong Vy (first choice to enter Son Tra High School) said that in the days leading up to the exam, she was nervous and raced to study until she couldn't sleep.

"This year, Son Tra High School's first choice competition ratio is about 1/2.7. Since I learned about this ratio, I have buried myself in studying. Many nights I only sleep 2 hours. Tomorrow is the exam, my academic performance is quite good so I am very worried."

Meanwhile, candidate Tuan Anh (first choice to enter Phan Chau Trinh High School) shared very comfortably and confidently.

"This year I am quite confident that I will pass Phan Chau Trinh School because the competition rate is much lower than many other schools. I think I should study regularly, divide my time reasonably, and not stay up too late because it is easy to forget knowledge before the exam day."

Tuan Anh said that this year he hopes the essay topic will be one of two works: The Village or Ivory Comb . "This year marks the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory, so I think I will publish a work about history, the past, and the patriotism of our people. Those two essays are enough to satisfy the demand," Tuan Anh said.

"Flee" from top schools

According to the enrollment data for grade 10 high school in the 2024-2025 school year announced by the Da Nang Departmentof Education and Training, this year the competition rate for many middle and lower-ranked schools has increased sharply.

Specifically, the number of candidates registering their wishes increased at mid-ranking schools such as Tran Phu High School, Son Tra High School, and Thanh Khe High School.

In 2024, there were 1,204 candidates registering for their first choice and 1,218 candidates registering for their second choice at Son Tra High School compared to the target of 440. Meanwhile, in 2023, there were 922 candidates registering for their first choice compared to the target of 440.

Thanh Khe High School has 991 candidates registering for their first choice, 1,000 candidates registering for their second choice compared to the target of 484. Lien Chieu High School has 903 candidates registering for their first choice compared to the target of 440. This number in 2023 is 703 candidates.

Tran Phu High School is one of the schools with a sudden increase in the number of candidates registering for their first choice with 1,111 candidates registering. There are 1,180 candidates registering for their second choice compared to the target of 792. The number of candidates registering for their first choice in 2023 is 999 candidates, and for their second choice is 1,285.

The entrance exam for grade 10 of Da Nang public high schools for the 2024-2025 school year will take place over three days from June 2 to June 4. On June 2 and June 3, candidates will take exams in three subjects: literature, foreign language, and math. On June 4, candidates will take the entrance exam for Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted.
