The 2025 High School Graduation Exam will certainly be different from the 2024 exam (the last year of the 2006 General Education Program). Because the new program implements one program and many textbooks, the materials used in the Literature exam may be in different textbooks or completely open, outside of the textbooks.
This is the information given by Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong at a press conference yesterday afternoon, June 28, after the end of the 2024 High School Graduation Exam.
According to Deputy Minister Pham Ngoc Thuong, the goal of the 2018 General Education Program is to develop students' qualities and abilities, not to aim at memorizing lessons in textbooks. Using open-ended materials in the exam will limit rote learning, lopsided learning, and even limit guessing questions or sample essays.
Guessing Literature exam questions has been going on for many years, before each exam because the language used in the exam questions will fall into one of the works studied in the textbook.
This year, right before the High School Graduation Exam, there was a rumor on social media that the Literature exam would be leaked: it would “call out” the work “Country” by poet Nguyen Khoa Diem. The Ministry of Education and Training quickly denied this leaked information. However, when the exam took place, the official Literature exam of the Ministry of Education and Training used the material in the poem “Country”, causing concerns about the leaked exam to be raised once again.
At the press conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong continued to affirm that "the Literature exam questions were not leaked". Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training, said that in Literature, with the material of the literary argument section only being able to fall into one of the works studied in the textbook, it is normal to speculate about this or that work and possibly overlap with the official questions.
According to Mr. Ngoc Ha, in constructing the Literature exam, a work can use many different excerpts with many different questions. "Therefore, both the excerpt and the question must be the same to be considered a leak," Mr. Ha said, and once again affirmed that the Literature exam will not leak./.
Deputy Minister of Education and Training Pham Ngoc Thuong affirmed that up to this point, the High School Graduation Exam has taken place safely, seriously, and in accordance with regulations.
