From today, July 18, candidates will begin registering their university admission wishes for 2024 on the Ministry of Education and Training's admission system. Candidates can adjust their wishes to change their wishes an unlimited number of times, including candidates who have been admitted early, within the prescribed time period. Speaking to the press, Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) shared some information to remind candidates how to register so that each student can achieve the best wishes.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education, said that candidates who are admitted early still have the opportunity to change their wishes.
All candidates have the right to adjust their wishes.
Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy said that from July 18 to before 5:00 p.m. on July 30 is the time period for candidates to adjust their wishes, there is no limit on the number of wishes, nor the number of times they can adjust their admission wishes. Candidates only need to register for the school's major and training program, without having to register to choose the admission method or admission combination.
The purpose of the system is to help students avoid mistakes in choosing combinations and admission methods. The system will use, arrange and select the best data that students have provided in the database to consider admission to the highest possible choice. This is to create the most favorable conditions, maximize the benefits and rights of candidates.
Many students are only registering for the first time on the system, so they will inevitably be confused and make mistakes. Therefore, the time allowed for adjustment is to minimize errors, ensure that students register correctly for their desired wishes, and of course increase their chances of being admitted.
"When registering for admission, candidates need to follow the entire process from beginning to end, until the end of the process (both when registering and when adjusting admission, if any). This is to ensure that the system has recorded their registration data. Candidates also need to carefully review the conditions and information on priority areas and priority subjects (if any) so that they can edit and complete if there are any errors," Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy noted.
Put your most cherished wishes first
Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy added: "The strategy and tactics are actually very simple. The candidate's favorite wish is placed first. This is thanks to the superiority of the Ministry of Education and Training's general admission support system that supports candidates: they will pass the most prioritized wish among the wishes that they are likely to be admitted to."
For candidates who have passed the early admission rounds, Ms. Nguyen Thu Thuy said that they can still adjust their wishes if they want to find better opportunities.
However, adjusting admission wishes (for all candidates, not just candidates who have passed the early admission exam) should only be done when and only when they have made a mistake in their prioritization.
Students who are admitted in the early admission rounds should not be subjective, thinking that receiving such notice from the schools means that they have been officially admitted. Students still need to register their early admission wishes (that they have been admitted to) on the general admission support system, then their admission will have official value and validity.
"Even if you are admitted early, you still have to register in order of priority for your wishes. Of course, if you are admitted early and put your first wish, then of course you will pass that wish," Ms. Thuy said.
How to ensure the rights of candidates who have passed early admission?
According to the Ministry of Education and Training's admission guidelines, only candidates admitted through direct admission must confirm their enrollment between July 22 and 5 p.m. on July 31. All other candidates (including those who have been notified by the school that they are eligible for early admission) must confirm their enrollment no later than August 19.
"Training institutions are not allowed to ask candidates to confirm admission or enroll before August 19 and are not allowed to end admission confirmation or enrollment before 5:00 p.m. on August 27 (including for joint training programs with foreign countries)," the Ministry of Education and Training's instructions require.
The Ministry of Education and Training requires universities to update the list of candidates eligible for early admission to the system no later than 5:00 p.m. on July 10. This move helps candidates who have passed the early admission process, and have registered this wish on the common system of the Ministry of Education and Training, to ensure that they retain their admission rights (in case they fail all of the above wishes, if they do not set the early admission wish as NV1).
In the instructions, the Ministry of Education and Training also directed: "Training institutions must absolutely comply with and unify the implementation of regulations on the list of successful candidates. The official list of successful candidates is the list of candidates sent back to the training institution by the application processing system (based on the list of expected successful candidates uploaded by the training institution to the system) after the final application processing on August 17. Training institutions must absolutely not adjust this official list of successful candidates."
