Many students left the exam room excited because this year's English test did not have as many tricky questions as the mock test. Some candidates predicted that their test would score 9.5 - 10 points.

Candidate Nguyen Minh Thanh (student of Le Ngoc Han Secondary School, Hai Ba Trung District) is confident that he will get 10 points because he has completed the entire test. The questions in the test are mainly about 9th grade English knowledge, distributed at levels from recognition, understanding to application and high application. Thanks to careful review, the candidate can confidently answer each question in less than 2/3 of the time.

Earlier in the morning, with the Literature exam, many candidates commented that the exam was basic and clear, with no tricky or tricky questions, and tested the students' knowledge and skills relatively comprehensively. The questions were arranged logically, ensuring four levels of recognition, understanding, application and high application.

Part I of the exam uses material from the work "Distant Stars". This is the only story in the second semester program of grade 9, so all students have reviewed it thoroughly.

Notably, for the past four years, stories have not appeared in the Literature exam for 10th graders in Hanoi. Therefore, this year, not only "Distant Stars" but also all short stories have been thoroughly reviewed by teachers for students.

Part II uses non-textbook material, an excerpt from a letter from a father to his child. Many candidates rated the material as good, full of emotions, awakening many thoughts and feelings in the younger generation. In addition to Vietnamese questions, this part requires students to express their feelings about a father's heart for his child. This is a good question, helping the writer express personal feelings and thoughts, avoiding memorizing sample essays.

The final question posed the question "sometimes our emotions will become worries for our loved ones, if you don't control it", and asked students to present their thoughts on what it means to control their personal emotions.

Literature teachers commented that the social argumentation topic is open and realistic, giving students the opportunity to express their views and opinions and give appropriate explanations; the questions are humane and positive, which is a matter of concern to today's youth.

Tomorrow morning, June 11, Hanoi candidates will take the Math exam in essay form for 120 minutes.

On June 12, candidates will take the entrance exam for specialized 10th grades of 4 schools: Hanoi Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, Nguyen Hue High School for the Gifted, Chu Van An High School, and Son Tay High School.

In the 2023-2024 school year, the number of students taking the 10th grade entrance exam in Hanoi increased compared to the previous school year. Hanoi has about 116,000 candidates registered for the exam; the number of exam rooms is nearly 5,000 in 201 exam rooms in 30 districts, towns and cities. The number of officers and teachers working in invigilation and grading is 20,000 people. In addition, there are 590 supervisors at the exam sites and more than 1,000 police officers and soldiers performing the task of protecting the exam area.

To be considered for admission, candidates must complete all exams, not violate regulations, and not have a score of 0 in any exam. The admission score for non-specialized high schools is the sum of Literature and Math scores multiplied by two, plus Foreign Language and priority scores.

Students who register for specialized schools will take an additional specialized subject test on June 12. The admission score for specialized 10th grade is the sum of the scores of the three exams in Math, Literature, Foreign Language and the specialized subject score multiplied by a factor of two.

Hanoi's public 10th grade benchmark scores were announced on July 8 and 9.
