At the request of Kiev, a European country providing logistics and ammunition, Ukraine assassinated a Russian officer.

The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced on September 28 that it had assassinated Colonel Alexey Kolomeytsev of the Russian Armed Forces (VS RF) in the suburbs of Moscow.

Colonel Kolomeytsev was the head of the Russian Defense Ministry's 924th State Unmanned Aircraft Center. He was reportedly assassinated in the town of Kolomna in the Moscow region. According to Ukrainian intelligence, Colonel Kolomeytsev trained Russian specialists in the use of drones. Russia has yet to comment on the information.

In another development, Lithuania announced on September 28 a new round of military aid to Ukraine, including logistics equipment and ammunition.

In a statement, the Lithuanian Defense Ministry said the country continues to provide military aid to Ukraine and that logistical equipment, ammunition, laptops and other supplies for the armed forces will arrive in Ukraine this week.

At Kiev's request, Lithuania has supplied 155 mm artillery shells, M577 armored vehicles, M113 armored vehicles, anti-drone systems, winter-warming equipment and uniforms, Carl Gustav anti-tank grenade launchers, ammunition, RISE-1 remote detonation systems, generators, loaders, trailers, folding beds and other supplies to Ukraine in 2024.
