The iHanoi digital capital citizen application has been in operation since June 28, 2024, and to date, nearly 1 million people have accessed and used the application.
According to information from the Hanoi Department of Information and Communications, on the night of September 10 and the morning of September 11, following the direction of the city's People's Committee, the iHanoi operation team updated the "communication and warning" section of the digital Capital Citizen application with information about the work to overcome the consequences of storm Yagi.
Accordingly, the application continuously updates information such as: bus route adjustment plans; notices of traffic restrictions on some routes; flood warnings on the Red River and Duong River; announcements from districts about rising water areas so that people know and limit going into those areas...
Updating information on the iHanoi application has contributed to adding an additional channel for people in the city to grasp information in a timely manner to respond and minimize damage to people and property.
According to Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Information and Communications Nguyen Tien Sy, before Typhoon Yagi made landfall, the Department had stepped up information and propaganda on weather developments through many information channels. According to statistics, Hanoi newspapers had nearly 800 news and articles on storm response and recovery. Hanoi Radio and Television Station broadcast about 518 news articles and 2 Podcasts on Typhoon Yagi on radio and television channels on digital platforms.
The Department has also coordinated with businesses to set up a general electronic information page to disseminate information. Fanpage and Tiktok pages have a large number of readers, with statistics of about 100 news and articles related to the storm situation. The content focuses on the direction of the city's leaders to respond to and overcome the consequences of the storm, warning people about storm response skills, information for people to ensure the supply of essential consumer goods...
In the coming time, the Department will also strengthen the work of informing and disseminating the weather and natural disaster situation to the people through many channels. At the same time, it will direct postal and telecommunications enterprises to proactively respond and overcome the consequences after the storm so that communication is smooth, said Mr. Nguyen Tien Sy.
