On the morning of May 17, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City organized a ceremony to hand over resettlement decisions and certificates of land use rights, house ownership rights and other assets attached to land to 9 households and individuals in the Thu Thiem New Urban Area and the 4.39ha land plot.
Of the 9 households mentioned above, 7 households in the 4.39ha area were concluded by the Government Inspectorate to be outside the boundary of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, and their rights were returned through a land exchange policy at a price equivalent to their old residence.
The remaining 2 households are among 75 households in 5 neighborhoods and 3 wards, which were concluded by the Government Inspectorate to be located within the boundary of the Thu Thiem New Urban Area, have not agreed to hand over the land and are currently filing a lawsuit.
Specifically, Ms. Phung Thi Thu Hang's household was allocated two resettlement plots of land on a 17.3-hectare plot of land in An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City. In addition, the Thu Duc City government also provided a house construction design drawing. According to the previous decision, when 240.91 square meters of house and land were cleared, Ms. Hang was only compensated and supported with more than 615 million VND; regarding resettlement, she was allowed to buy a plot of land at the resettlement price with a standard area of 200 square meters.
After receiving the land, Ms. Hang said that the lawsuit that lasted for decades was tiring. Now that the Thu Duc City government has changed its policy and provided adequate compensation, her family decided to hand over the land to the government and receive compensation to stabilize their lives.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Giap's household received an apartment in the 17.3ha apartment complex in An Phu Ward, Thu Duc City. It is known that Ms. Giap's household was previously only considered for compensation and damage support of just over 9.6 million VND. Regarding resettlement, she was allowed to buy an apartment at the resettlement price with a standard area of 7.75m² (the resettlement area larger than the standard resettlement area will be purchased at the capital preservation price).
According to the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, when planning to build the new Thu Thiem Urban Area and resettlement areas in the old District 2, Ho Chi Minh City had to evacuate more than 14,000 households.
Up to now, Thu Duc City has compensated and supported 14,353/14,357 applications (reaching a rate of 99.97%). Particularly in the 4.39ha land plot (part of Quarter 1, Binh An Ward, District 2, now An Khanh Ward, Thu Duc City), 277/331 households have agreed to the compensation, support, and additional resettlement policies and have chosen resettlement housing and land locations, reaching a rate of 83.69%.
There are 75 remaining land and housing records of households and individuals whose land has not been recovered.
