Working as an accountant for a state-owned enterprise, Ms. NTT (in Ha Dong, Hanoi) decided to stop due to family matters.
After getting ready to return to the labor market, Ms. T. had difficulty finding a new job in her field. At this point, she had to lower her job search standards. She chose to work as a kitchen assistant in a restaurant.
After half a year, she wanted to quit this job because the salary was low and she did not have social insurance.
At the age of 49, Ms. T. encountered many obstacles when applying for a new job. She went to the Hanoi Employment Service Center for advice and job referrals. This worker still wanted to work as an accountant or office worker, requiring only an average income.

In August, the Hanoi Employment Service Center coordinated with northern provinces and cities to organize many job fairs.
Deputy Director of the Hanoi Employment Service Center Vu Quang Thanh said that the center has increased direct and online connection activities to provide maximum support for labor supply and demand in the city in particular and the provinces in general when participating in online job fairs.
The center grasps the recruitment needs of businesses and workers looking for jobs. In particular, this unit has the function of supporting unemployed and unemployed workers, so that they can quickly find new jobs at businesses that are recruiting.
According to Mr. Thanh, in Hanoi, besides the group of businesses reducing the scale of labor use, there are also many newly established companies and units that are not affected, still increasing the demand for recruiting personnel.
Another positive sign is that the number of people coming to the center to register for unemployment insurance policies has tended to decrease, showing a better development of the capital's labor market.
According to the report of the Hanoi Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in the first 8 months of the year, 155,679 workers were employed, reaching 96.1% of the yearly plan.
In August alone, the city created jobs for 22,889 workers.
Along with job support, the Department also focuses on promoting unemployment insurance and job counseling for the unemployed.
Specifically, in August, the Department received 8,061 applications for unemployment insurance benefits; assessed and decided to receive unemployment insurance benefits for 7,805 people. The amount of support was 212.9 billion VND.
In addition, through the activities of the Hanoi Employment Service Center and a number of units, the Department has provided job consultation and referrals to 8,061 people and supported vocational training for 30 people. The vocational training support amount is 138 million VND.
In addition, in the first 8 months of the year, the city's Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs also received and assessed 57,351 applications for unemployment insurance; issued decisions for 56,858 people eligible for unemployment insurance with a support amount of 1,568 billion VND.
This unit also supported vocational training for 615 people, with a support amount of 2.7 billion VND. The number of unemployed people receiving unemployment insurance decreased by 12.6% compared to the same period in 2022.
