According to Vijesti , on December 16, the Senegalese army announced the seizure of 3 tons of cocaine hidden in a ship anchored off the coast of Senegal. The crew consisted of 7 people, including 6 West Africans and 1 South American. This is the largest drug seizure ever, with a minimum value of more than 192 million Euros (209.5 million USD).
In a statement on social network X (formerly Twitter), the Senegalese Navy said a maritime patrol vessel intercepted the ship on December 14 in the southern Senegalese waters, 425 km from the shore. Authorities towed the ship and its entire crew, including one Senegalese, one Venezuelan and five Guinea-Bissau nationals, to the naval base in Dakar on December 16.
Previously, on November 28, the Senegalese army said it had also seized nearly 3 tons of cocaine on a ship anchored off the coast of Senegal.
