Accordingly, 108 OCOP products of 33 participants in the program were recognized as meeting 4-star standards, of which 10 products have the potential to be upgraded to 5-star national standards. The results of OCOP product classification in 2024 show the diverse development of agricultural products, handicrafts, processed foods and consumer goods from localities in Hanoi.
Thanh Oai district leads with 15 products recognized as achieving 4 stars. Next is Me Linh district with 14 products, Hoai Duc district and Thanh Tri district each have 12 products. Gia Lam district contributes 11 products, Ba Vi district has 8 products, Chuong My district has 7 products.
Some other districts also have many ranked products such as Bac Tu Liem and Ung Hoa (each locality has 6 products), Thach That, Soc Son and Thanh Xuan district (each locality has 4 products). My Duc and Dong Anh districts have 2 products, while Dan Phuong, Phuc Tho and Hoang Mai district each have 1 OCOP product meeting 4-star standards.
Hien Xiem lotus tea brand is the only representative to achieve 4-star OCOP certification in Tay Ho district.
Of these, 10 products are assessed as having the potential to achieve 5 stars and will continue to be improved and proposed to be upgraded to the national level. These are products with outstanding quality, meeting the criteria of the OCOP Program, and are competitive in the domestic and international markets.
According to regulations, the OCOP product classification certificate is valid for 36 months from the date of signing the decision. Products that achieve 4-star certification will be rewarded according to the current mechanism, while creating favorable conditions for OCOP entities to expand production, improve product quality and increase commercial value.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to organize the announcement, award certificates and pay prizes for OCOP products that meet the standards in 2024. At the same time, the Department will advise the City People's Committee to submit to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to evaluate and classify potential 5-star products at the national level.
Departments, branches, localities and related units are responsible for implementing trade promotion activities to support OCOP entities in promoting products, expanding distribution channels and increasing commercial value. 4-star OCOP products and 5-star potential products will be given priority to participate in fairs, exhibitions and trade connection programs to enhance competitiveness in the market.
On the other hand, the City also requires strengthening state management of OCOP products, including quality monitoring, periodic inspections and strict handling of violations of program regulations. This is to ensure that OCOP products not only meet quality standards but also meet regulations on food safety, traceability and consumer rights protection.
Entities with products that have achieved 4-star OCOP certification and 5-star potential are responsible for continuing to improve their products, maintain and upgrade their quality according to OCOP program standards. Perfecting their designs, improving their production processes and ensuring sustainability criteria will help these products qualify for annual star rating review, expanding their market access opportunities.
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, said that in the coming time, the Department will continue to promote solutions to support the promotion and consumption of OCOP products as well as craft village products. Accordingly, the city will strengthen connections with supermarket systems, stores selling safe agricultural products, handicraft stores, OCOP product consulting and introduction points, etc. At the same time, e-commerce platforms and online sales platforms will also be utilized to expand distribution channels, helping OCOP products reach consumers more conveniently.
In addition to developing the domestic market, Hanoi also identifies international cooperation as an important direction to enhance the position of OCOP products. Trade promotion activities and connections with foreign partners will be promoted to bring OCOP products and craft village products to potential markets. Participation in international exhibitions and fairs, cooperation with foreign distribution systems will help OCOP products become more widely known, gradually becoming a strong brand, conquering domestic and international consumers.
