(Dan Tri) - Learning is a brain activity, changing the way the brain increases connections and development is more important than teachers giving students a lot of homework.

The above is the sharing of Mr. Martin Skelton (special advisor of the UK ISP International School System, founding advisor of TH School) at the workshop "Happiness in Education", recently held in Hanoi.

At the conference, international speakers gave lectures providing insights into integrating "happiness" and personal goals into the educational environment; sharing experiences on holistic education and personalized learning; putting purpose and happiness at the heart of education.

In particular, the workshop has highlights that bring happiness to children through education, including a variety of topics, both professional and in-depth, and interesting general topics, designed to focus on specific aspects of the happiness model.

Happiness is sometimes just recess

Sharing his experience on happiness in education, Mr. Martin Skelton said that learning is a process of becoming better. Teachers should not make students busier but help them become better.

School is a place that not only helps students learn better and more effectively. There, teachers, in one way or another, make them happy.

According to this expert, learning is a brain activity, changing the way of thinking, helping the brain increase connections and development, which is more important than teachers giving students a lot of homework.

Sharing at the workshop, Dr. Ngo Tuyet Mai, lecturer at Flinders University (Australia) brought up a story from her childhood, every day after school, her father always asked "What was fun today?"

"Maybe my dad wanted his daughter to say it was math, literature or some other subject, but I said I was happy because it was recess," said Dr. Mai.

According to this expert, she has undergone both domestic and Australian education and today's sharing is from the perspective of a happy mother.

With the experience of a mother and an educator, she believes that to make a school happy, it is important for the school to train children both intellectually and emotionally.

"Without engagement and poor teacher-student relationships, lessons don't work. Instead of struggling with the question of "how to teach," teachers should create relationships between teachers and students, between colleagues, and between managers and employees.

"If teachers know how to turn classroom hours into meaningful activities, every school day will be a happy day for students," said Dr. Mai.

From this perspective, Mr. Thomas Hobson, an American child education consultant, stated that happiness is not a formula, it cannot be grasped, it is the feeling of love.

If learning is mechanical and repetitive, school hours will be boring and children will no longer be happy.

Teachers understand and listen, students become interested

At the workshop, Mr. Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training, said that happy schools are an important part of the concept of happiness in education.

What we need to discuss here is how to help students have a lot of fun in the learning process? The greater and more lasting the joy and interest, the more successful the learning will be, the more good results will be achieved.

According to the head of the education sector, learners are the core factor and decide happiness in education. Learners who know how to create and feel happiness in the learning process will be able to do great things.

In the 10 factors the Minister suggested to help create happy states for learners in educational activities, he especially emphasized the role of teachers.

Teachers who always listen, always understand, always share are very important to make students' learning interesting. A monk once said, happy teachers will change the world. Only happy people can create a happy world.

"In educational activities, teachers need to pay attention to education to develop emotional intelligence or emotional capacity, the ability to control and express emotions... This is education on how people can live happily, know how to create happiness for themselves and for everyone," the Minister affirmed.
