Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam believes that parents changing their concept of success will help their children be happier.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam (Vice Principal of the University of Education, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Miss Luong Thuy Linh (assistant lecturer of the Faculty of Business Administration, Dai Nam University) participated in a talk show with the topic "Happy School", part of the series of activities of the program "Sharing with teachers".

Analyzing from an expert perspective, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam affirmed: "Happiness is an internal feeling from within. If parents want to be happy, they should not change their children or change their teachers, but should change the way they look at problems."

According to Mr. Nam, changing the concept of children's success has also helped parents and children become happier. If we think that success is the child's satisfaction with what he has chosen and the child being able to do what he likes even though it is very difficult and arduous, the pressure will also be reduced a lot.

Besides changing the parents' mindset, Mr. Nam also believes that teachers themselves need to change so that parents and students can feel less pressure.

"The higher the level, the less time teachers have to share with parents and the more pressure they themselves have on their achievements.

Pressure from teachers in class is sometimes passed on to parents, and pressure from parents is passed on to children. Children will be the last layer to bear the worries and negative emotions of adults," Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam analyzed.

Therefore, it is necessary to transform the consciousness of parents and teachers because they are both important teachers to the child.

Specifically, according to Mr. Nam, the three teachers in a child's life include: Parents, teachers and the surrounding educational environment. However, all three teachers are facing a lot of stress when parents spend less and less time with their children due to work pressure, teachers also face pressures in life and the third teacher is a mixture of good and bad.

Therefore, to create happiness, all three teachers need to cooperate, understand each other and support each other to help children achieve their life goals happily.

In addition to solutions for parents to reduce stress, the talk also clarified the factors that make school unhappy for students.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thanh Nam also believes that limiting creativity and doing everything in a content-oriented manner will increase pressure and kill students' emotions and happiness.

Besides, students are oriented towards achievement, not towards the desire to contribute and dedicate, which limits their dreams and critical thinking, forcing them to follow standards and forget their true goals.

"Education is moving towards personalization. If you are a fish, you will be happy when you can swim. If you are a fish that is required to run or climb trees, you cannot be happy," Mr. Nam shared.

In addition, the learning environment should foster the different potentials of learners, allowing students to express their own personalities. If the school does not help students have the desire to contribute something, students will come to school with a "must" mentality and not love their studies.

Miss Luong Thuy Linh remembers her time in school when she had the support of her parents. She said that during her time in school, she felt her parents' happiness in the process of helping her connect what she had learned to real life.

Although her parents also have high expectations for her grades and achievements, they are not rigid in requiring her to recite every knowledge she has learned.

"I see that parents really enjoy every moment with their children. That's why I think the way to make parents happier when raising their children is to always be ready to help their children apply knowledge to daily life," Luong Thuy Linh shared.
