Each animal is told with its own story in a cute, playful voice, with realistic illustrations, accompanied by scientific information.
Author Gia Bao said that she often went to the zoo when she was a student. This was the place where many childhood stories took place with many beautiful memories.
That is the reason why she joined the project of writing books about animals in the Zoo.
Besides, when visiting and interacting with people who directly raise the animals, writer Gia Bao and the authors discovered very interesting scientific facts.
For example, hippos cannot swim. And although they are heavy, when they are in the water, they are like dancers.
Journalist and writer Gia Bao shares about the process of writing a book about animals in the Zoo - Photo: HO LAM
"When it dances, it moves gracefully. That's why I came up with the title: Dancer of the Pearly Swamp ," she said.
As for writer Phuong Huyen, she wants to use the images of animals to send children a message about confidence, the strength to pursue dreams and realize their value in life.
Young writer Bui Tieu Quyen also has 3 books about bears, wolves, and otters of the Zoo.
She said: "I want to sow the seeds of love in the hearts of children. They will be the generation that contributes to preserving and protecting the habitat of species, especially rare individuals listed in the Red Book."
Precious treasure in the heart of the city
At the press conference, many people commented that the Zoo (which many people in Saigon used to simply call the Zoo) is truly a treasure in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City.
Because in the middle of the crowded city, this place is like a small green forest, a peaceful place of hundreds of years old trees, where animals are always cared for, loved and protected.
