On the afternoon of May 24, the People's Council of Vinh City, term XXII, 2021 - 2026, held the 12th session to discuss and pass a Resolution approving the policy of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh City, establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh City for the period 2023 - 2025.

Accordingly, at the meeting, the City People's Council delegates listened to the City People's Committee leaders report on the policies of the province and Vinh city and the process and steps to implement the Project to expand the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city; the results of collecting voters' opinions and organizing the People's Council meetings of communes and wards approved the policy of establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh city in the period of 2023-2025.

The City People's Committee also presented the content of the Proposal on approving the policy of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city, establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh city in the period of 2023-2025.

The meeting also heard the Legal Committee of the City People's Council report on the results of the examination of the proposal and draft resolution approving the policy of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city, establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh city in the period of 2023-2025.

Based on the reports and the Presentation at the meeting, the City People's Council delegates discussed and passed a Resolution on approving the policy of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city, establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh city, Nghe An province for the period 2023-2025.

The specific contents of the Resolution include: Adjusting administrative boundaries to expand the urban space of Vinh city on the basis of merging the entire Cua Lo town (including 7 wards) with a natural area of ​​29.12 ^km2 , a population of 77,813 people and adjusting part of Nghi Loc district with a natural area of ​​32.14 ^km2 , a population of 45,130 people (including the natural area and population of the communes: Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho, Nghi Thai, Nghi Phong) into Vinh city.

Establishment of wards in Vinh city including: Establishment of Hung Dong ward on the basis of the original natural area of ​​6.42 ^km2 and population of 17,784 people. Establishment of Hung Loc ward on the basis of the original natural area of ​​6.72 ^km2 and population of 26,321 people. Establishment of Nghi Phu ward on the basis of the original natural area of ​​6.47 ^km2 and population of 25,032 people. Establishment of Nghi Duc ward on the basis of the original natural area of ​​5.69 ^km2 and population of 9,365 people.

Arrange 5 commune-level administrative units of Vinh city. Including merging the entire natural area and population of Hong Son ward and Vinh Tan ward into a new ward, named Vinh Tan ward. Merging the entire natural area and population of Doi Cung ward, Le Mao ward and Quang Trung ward into a new ward, named Quang Trung ward.

After adjusting administrative boundaries, arranging and establishing wards, Vinh City has a natural area of ​​over 166 ^km2 and a population of over 580,000 people. There are 33 commune-level administrative units, including 24 wards and 9 communes.

9 communes, including: Nghi Xuan, Phuc Tho, Nghi Thai, Nghi Phong, Hung Chinh, Hung Hoa, Nghi An, Nghi Kim, Nghi Lien.

Speaking at the end of the session, comrade Phan Duc Dong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vinh City People's Council proposed that the City People's Committee, immediately after the session, on the basis of current legal provisions and the Resolution of the City People's Council on approving the policy of expanding the administrative boundaries and urban space of Vinh city, establishing wards and arranging commune-level administrative units in Vinh city in the period of 2023 - 2025 to complete the Project dossier to submit to competent authorities for consideration and decision.

At the same time, the entire political system continues to pay attention to propaganda work, creating high consensus among cadres and people of all walks of life when implementing the project and when the project is approved by the National Assembly.
