Signs of hidden testicles
Undescended testicles are a common birth defect in the male reproductive system. This is a condition in which a baby boy is born with one or both testicles not descending into the scrotum or located in a location other than the scrotum. During the fetal stage, the testicles appear in the abdomen near the kidneys. By the seventh month, the testicles begin to descend into the groin.
The latest descent into the scrotum occurs around the 6th month after birth. About 1% of full-term boys have undescended testicles by the age of 1 year. Usually, undescended testicles occur on only one side, but if both testicles are undescended, only about 10% of children have undescended testicles.
Normally, about 60% - 85% of undescended testicles are located in the upper part of the scrotum and in the inguinal canal, about 15% may be located in the abdomen or other locations. If this condition is not detected and treated early, complications such as testicular torsion, testicular trauma, reduced fertility, testicular cancer, and inguinal hernia may occur.
From the case of patient V., Master, Doctor, Specialist II Nguyen Vinh Binh also recommends that parents need to closely monitor and recognize this condition of their boy early to take him to the doctor promptly and handle any abnormalities.
