Establishment of the Organizing Committee of the “UN Tourism International Conference on Rural Tourism”

(To Quoc) - Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung has signed a decision to establish the Organizing Committee of the "UN Tourism International Conference on Rural Tourism".

Accordingly, the Organizing Committee consists of 19 members, headed by Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong and Vice Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee Ho Quang Buu as Co-Chairman.

Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) is the Standing Deputy Head of the Committee and Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hong, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam province is the Deputy Head of the Committee.

The remaining members of the organizing committee are leaders of some departments and units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of some departments and branches of Quang Nam province; leaders of the People's Committee of Hoi An city, Duy Xuyen district, and Thang Binh district.

The Organizing Committee is responsible for implementing the organization of the UN Tourism International Conference on Rural Tourism according to the plan approved in Decision No. 4810/QD-BVHTTDL dated November 1, 2024 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

It is known that the International Conference on Rural Tourism of the United Nations Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) in Quang Nam takes place from December 7-12, 2024 at Vinpearl Resort & Golf Nam Hoi An.

The conference is chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Nam province. Expected activities include: building a space to introduce culture and tourism; organizing the 2nd annual meeting of the Best Tourism Village Network of UN Tourism. The conference is expected to open on December 10, 2024. On the same day, there will be a meeting and working session between Government leaders and the UN Tourism Secretary General.

The purpose of the conference is to create a forum to discuss issues and initiatives related to rural tourism development to diversify tourism products, create livelihoods for local people, and solve the problem of tourist overload at urban tourist centers.

At the same time, propose solutions to develop and promote rural tourism products, apply new initiatives, digital technology and green technology in tourism to contribute to promoting the recovery and development of sustainable tourism.

Along with that, promote and communicate the image of Vietnam's destinations, increase brand recognition for Vietnam tourism. Promote close and effective cooperation between Vietnam tourism and UN Tourism and countries, member organizations, and the best tourist villages of UN Tourism.
