On May 23, information from the Department of Education and Training (GD&DT) of Thanh Hoa province said that the entrance exam for grade 10 of Lam Son High School for the Gifted will take place on May 26 and 27, 2023. Thanh Hoa province established 2 examination councils, with 72 examination rooms for 1,562 candidates.

It is known that in the 2023-2024 school year, Lam Son High School for the Gifted will enroll 11 specialized classes with a total of 385 students (35 students/class). Of which, Math and English Specialization, 2 classes each; Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, Literature, History, Geography, 1 class each. For the Informatics Specialization class, 18 students will be recruited from candidates taking the specialized subject exam of Informatics; 17 students will be recruited from candidates taking the specialized subject exam of Math for the Informatics Specialization.

To participate in the exam, each candidate must take 3 general exams (Literature, Math and English) and 1 specialized exam according to their registered wishes. Time for general exams: 120 minutes for Literature and Math; 60 minutes for English; specialized exams: 150 minutes. All exams are in essay format. The specialized English exam includes listening skills. The IT exam is in the form of computer programming. The general exam is calculated with a coefficient of 1; the specialized exam is calculated with a coefficient of 2.
