The decision to posthumously promote military ranks was signed by the Ministry of Public Security on the morning of July 31, one day after three traffic police officers died at Bao Loc Pass. Accordingly, soldier Nguyen Khac Thuong, 42 years old, was promoted from major to lieutenant colonel; two soldiers Le Quang Thanh, 46 years old and Le Anh Sang, 33 years old were promoted from lieutenant to captain.

According to the report of Lam Dong Provincial Police, at around 2:30 pm yesterday, receiving information that there was a landslide at Bao Loc Pass checkpoint, some officers and soldiers from Madagui Traffic Police Station who were patrolling returned to the checkpoint with the people to move vehicles and equipment. Suddenly, hundreds of cubic meters of soil and rock slid down from the top of the hill, burying 3 soldiers and a local who was working nearby to help move the belongings.

Lam Dong province mobilized 200 police officers, soldiers, army and other forces along with nearly 20 vehicles (excavators, dump trucks, drills, detectors...) to urgently search for buried victims and overcome the consequences. By the evening of the same day, the authorities had found the bodies of three traffic police officers.

This morning, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and leaders of Lam Dong province visited the landslide scene. He asked the authorities to quickly overcome the consequences of the landslide but also ensure absolute safety for the task force.

Visiting the family of Senior Lieutenant Le Anh Sang (in Ward 2, Bao Loc City), the Government leader encouraged and expressed his deepest condolences to the relatives of the officers who died while on duty and the people who were buried by rocks and soil. He requested Lam Dong province to allocate funds, arrange support forces, and organize funerals for the officers, soldiers, and people.
