These days, Mr. Cu and his team of technicians and workers from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue are busy working at a church in Duong No Con village (Phu Duong commune, Hue city).
According to its "history", although it was only built more than 10 years ago, this church shows signs of tilting and sinking. In the long run, if not handled, it will affect the structure, endangering the entire structure.
Through much information, the homeowner sought out the "genie" Nguyen Van Cu - a person famous for handling and moving many massive constructions in Vietnam, and most recently the relocation of the main hall of the Dieu De National Temple, to preserve the precious mural.
Like many other projects, before coming up with a solution, Mr. Cu spent a lot of time surveying the church. According to Mr. Cu, this church was built with a massive structure but the foundation was simple so it could not bear the load, leading to it sinking and tilting over time.
Faced with that situation, the “genie” mobilized a huge amount of machinery from the South to carry out steps such as foundation treatment, concrete pile driving, foundation reinforcement, etc. Workers pressed down each pile one by one and then planted the pillars.
Next, the workers will use hydraulic jacks to lift the tilted section back to its original position. Once this is completed, Mr. Cu will have the technical team weld the steel bars back to restore the structure to its original state.
Previously, in September 2022, Mr. Cu and his colleagues moved the main hall of Dieu De Quoc Tu, weighing about 1,000 tons, 18 meters back from its original location. This move was highly appreciated because in addition to ensuring technical standards, it did not cause any damage. In addition, he was also invited by the Hue City government to survey and plan the relocation of an ancient French-style villa at 26 Le Loi (Hue City).
Mr. Cu was born in 1955, from Phu Loc, then worked in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2004, he founded Nguyen Van Cu Incline Treatment Company Limited and became famous for having relocated dozens of structures weighing several thousand tons in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring localities. Among them, we can mention the relocation projects such as relocating a 6-room house weighing 3,000 tons, raising the grand angle of Hue Nghiem pagoda to 3.4m, raising the 3,500-ton school to 2m, raising the 6,000-ton Queen of Peace parish to 2m...
