Laying the first meters of asphalt concrete at Dien Chau expressway project

Cienco4 Group is the first contractor in the North-South expressway project, Dien Chau (Nghe An) - Bai Vot (Ha Tinh) section, to construct asphalt concrete on the main route.

Speaking with Giao thong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Executive Director of XL-03 package of Cienco4 Group said that this contractor has just conducted a test of spreading the first layers of hollow asphalt concrete at XL03 package passing through Dien Chau district of the North-South expressway project, Dien Chau - Bai Vot section.

The first meters of asphalt concrete on the main highway section Dien Chau - Bai Vot through Dien Chau district have begun construction by Cienco4.

"According to calculations, within the scope of Cienco4's responsibility, the total volume of asphalt concrete for the construction of the section through Dien Chau district is about 19,270 tons. The construction of the C25 hollow asphalt concrete layer was carried out from December 8. The asphalt concrete work in Dien Chau section is expected to be completed on January 31, 2024," Mr. Hung informed, at the same time, he said that on the nearly 2.3km length that Cienco4 is responsible for through Dien Chau, up to now, the construction of crushed stone aggregate on the main route has reached nearly 70%; Construction of crushed stone aggregate reinforced with cement (CTB) has reached nearly 30% of the construction volume. It is expected that on December 31, 2023, the foundation layers will be completed.

In the XL03 package of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot section project, the value of the package Cienco4 undertakes is 1,269 billion VND, with a completion deadline of May 22, 2024. As of December 8, 2023, the construction value reached 795 billion VND, reaching nearly 63% of the contract value, basically following the 4th adjusted schedule approved by the investor.

For nearly 4km of the main route through Hung Nguyen district, the roadbed embankment has been basically completed. The area for treating weak soil (3.48km) is expected to start unloading from December 15, 2023, and be completed on March 20, 2024.

From the beginning of January 2024, the contractor will start the crushed stone construction and complete it about 3 months later (April 2024); CTB construction will start on January 25, 2024 and be completed by the end of April 2024.

As for asphalt concrete, calculations show that the total construction volume on the section through Hung Nguyen district is about 38,500 tons, expected to start construction from the end of February 2024 and complete asphalt concrete paving on April 30, 2024, and complete the bridge deck paving on May 10, 2024.

Determined to speed up progress, Cienco4 is taking full advantage of favorable weather conditions to construct asphalt concrete and many other important items of the XL03 package of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot project.

With the Than Vu tunnel project, undertaking the construction of 567m of the left branch of the north gate, currently, the main tunnel drilling work has reached nearly 95% of the workload, expected to be completed on December 31, 2023. By the end of April 2024, the tunnel lining construction will be completed.

To meet the project's progress, at the construction site of the XL03 package of the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway, Cienco4 is deploying 14 construction teams with more than 350 officers, workers and 120 vehicles and equipment. Of which, the Than Vu tunnel construction team always maintains continuous construction 24/24 every day; the road and bridge construction teams maintain construction from 6am - 10pm every day.

"Determining the locations that need to treat weak soil will determine the progress of the package. Cienco4 will continue to monitor and observe subsidence to calculate and evaluate unloading conditions. We will also increase the gathering of crushed stone aggregate materials, granular materials, and precast components so that when the conditions are met to unload the weak soil treatment segments, the construction will be accelerated to meet the required plan," said the leader of the XL03 package management board.
