(Dan Tri) - After graduating with a master's degree from Cambridge, a Chinese girl caused a stir in public opinion when she applied for a job at a zoo, completely unrelated to her major.

Recently, Maya (born 2000), a female manager at Shanghai Zoo (China), caused controversy because of her choice of job.

Maya has a master's degree in veterinary medicine from Cambridge University (UK). Instead of standing in the classroom or doing "office work", she chooses to feed animals, clean up their feces and take care of their health every day. Many people think this is a waste of talent, but Maya insists that this job helps her apply her knowledge to real life and learn things that are not taught in school.

Maya previously studied abroad at Imperial College London and the University of Cambridge Veterinary Institute. After graduating, she returned to China and worked at the Shanghai Zoo, in charge of the Asian herbivore section, with 64 individuals of 8 species.

Maya works for 8 hours a day, cleaning the exhibit, checking and feeding the animals, and supervising visitors. Despite the hard work, she says she finds joy and creates value. In fact, Maya helped design the international award-winning red panda exhibit.

The public was even more surprised when, in addition to Maya, many employees at the zoo also graduated from prestigious schools such as Cornell University (USA) or Melbourne University (Australia). They all had to rotate jobs and gain practical experience before taking on higher positions.

Some say she and her colleagues are wasting their talent, while many others support her and say it is a career choice.

"Doing what you love is more important than chasing fame," commented a netizen.
