TCE Vina Denim cooperates with SP Group and Pebsteel to inaugurate 5.2 MWp rooftop solar power system
TCE Vina Denim Joint Stock Company cooperates with Singapore's SP Group to operate a rooftop solar power system at its Nam Dinh factory. With a capacity of 5.2 MWp, the system is constructed and installed by Pebsteel.
The system officially went into operation on January 15, 2025, marking a new milestone in TCE Vina Denim's sustainable development journey. With this system, the company can replace 15% of its electricity for production and business from fossil fuels with electricity from renewable energy sources. This helps the company reduce 54,118 tons of carbon emissions each year, equivalent to planting 2.4 million trees. This conversion emphasizes TCE Vina Denim's commitment to greening its production activities to meet the sustainability requirements in export markets.
TCE Vina Denim, a company from Korea, has invested in a denim factory in Nam Dinh, which started operating in 2014. The company's products are exported to major markets such as the US, Europe, Japan and Korea.
Since the beginning of its investment in Vietnam, the company has applied a green, clean, and environmentally friendly production process towards sustainable development and environmental protection. The factory has a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 4,000 tons/day and night, a wastewater recycling system with a capacity of 1,500 tons/day and night, an exhaust gas odor treatment system, as well as an air conditioning and ventilation system. In addition, the company also prioritizes the use of organic materials, recycled raw materials and recycled resources to promote a circular economy in production.
In an effort to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, TCE Vina Denim has replaced coal-fired boilers with biomass fuels since 2024. At the same time, the company also officially inaugurated a rooftop solar power project. In the coming time, TCE Vina Denim will cooperate with Vietnam Electricity (EVN) to increase the rate of renewable energy use to at least 70% by 2030, gradually reducing the rate of fossil fuel use. These initiatives are a testament to the company's tireless efforts in protecting the environment, contributing to Vietnam's goal of achieving zero net emissions by 2050.
“We appreciate the cooperation with SP Group and Pebsteel to install and operate the rooftop solar project. SP Group’s extensive expertise helped speed up the progress, bringing the system into operation four months ahead of schedule,” said Mr. Hwang Seung Tae, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of TCE Vina Denim.
“Meanwhile, Pebsteel is a capable and reputable contractor in the pre-engineered steel building and rooftop solar power industry. In the past, Pebsteel installed a dyeing workshop and a weaving workshop for TCE Vina Denim, and these structures have remained stable after more than 10 years of operation. With the latest project, Pebsteel has demonstrated its capacity in the field of constructing rooftop solar power projects with lightning-fast progress while ensuring quality and safety,” he added.
“By partnering with TCE Vina Denim, SP Group is committed to supporting the Vietnamese manufacturing industry to reduce carbon emissions and drive green energy transition,” said Brandon Chia, Managing Director, Sustainable Energy Solutions, SP Group. “We look forward to bringing our suite of sustainable energy solutions and proven track record to help our customers achieve their energy, cost, and carbon reduction goals, thereby contributing to Vietnam’s net zero emissions goals.”
Mr. Logaraju Thulasiraj, Operations Director, Pebsteel, shared: “This is one of the largest rooftop solar power projects that Pebsteel has implemented in Vietnam. The cooperation with SP Group and TCE Vina Denim not only affirms Pebsteel's position as a developer and EPC general contractor but also opens up opportunities for deeper cooperation in the future. Not only bringing economic benefits, this project is also a clear demonstration of Pebsteel's technical capacity and experience in the field of renewable energy project construction.”
In the future, Pebsteel will continue to focus on investing and developing rooftop solar power projects in Vietnam. By integrating solar energy solution consulting into the factory design and construction process, Pebsteel will help customers optimize investment resources and create a clear competitive advantage. Leveraging its existing strengths in customer network and experience in the field of pre-engineered steel buildings, Pebsteel will accelerate the energy transition in key industries, including textiles, electronics, construction, steel and manufacturing, thereby contributing to Vietnam's sustainable development goals.
