Huang Ching Ping is ranked 80th in the world, while Thuy Linh has just entered the top 20 after continuously achieving success in recent tournaments.
In the first set, Thuy Linh quickly took the lead and continuously maintained the gap in points with Huang Ching Ping.
The Taiwanese (Chinese) tennis player aimed to hit Thuy Linh's weak point on her left hand but was unsuccessful and the number one Vietnamese female tennis player ended the set quickly with a score difference of 10-21.
In the second set, Huang Ching Ping tried to hit a backhand ball to Thuy Linh's backhand to make things difficult for Vietnam's number one player. However, Thuy Linh's all-round play showed the difference in class with her opponent, as she still created a difference in points like in the first set.
The Taiwanese player was completely helpless against Thuy Linh's skillful drop shots, while feeling stuck in her options when it came to counterattacks. Thuy Linh easily led her opponent 11-6 before the break.
Thuy Linh continued to lead her opponent with a score of 18-13 but Huang Ching Ping scored 3 consecutive points to shorten the gap to 16-18. However, Huang Ching Ping then hit out, missing the opportunity to close in on Thuy Linh.
After a drop shot missed the net, Thuy Linh smashed the ball across the court powerfully to score a point to reach 20-17 and close the match in less than half an hour.
In the second round, Thuy Linh will face the 68th ranked opponent in the world from Japan, Manami Suizu. As the 5th seed in the women's singles, the number one Vietnamese player can completely win the second victory against the not-so-strong opponent to continue to advance in the tournament.
