Promote professional training
In order for teachers to have solid knowledge and confidence in new teaching methods, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the Department of Education and Training of other units have been implementing professional training for teachers at schools. This is a valuable opportunity for teachers to exchange, share, and improve their ability to effectively implement teaching hours for students.
A representative of the Department of Education and Training of Me Linh district said that this school year, the district has 20 secondary schools with nearly 19,000 students; including nearly 4,000 grade 9 students. In a recent training session at Trung Vuong Secondary School (Me Linh), more than 800 key teachers of secondary schools in the district were shared with the core contents in implementing the 2024-2025 school year plan; including teaching methods, testing, and student assessment, especially for grade 9 students.
In the 2018 General Education Program, literature is the subject that has changed the most when familiar materials in textbooks will not appear in assessment tests or exams. In order to help teachers of grade 9 literature become fluent in the methods and orientations of teaching literature, the Department of Education and Training of Hoan Kiem District has just organized a training conference on innovative teaching methods and assessment of grade 9 literature.
At this meeting, teacher Le Thi Thuy Lan - teacher of Ngo Si Lien Secondary School, representative of literature teachers at secondary schools in Hoan Kiem district shared the advantages and difficulties in organizing teaching activities for grade 9 literature and the concerns of teachers in the process of implementing the program.
Most of the related questions were answered by experts, clearly oriented in innovating teaching and assessment methods, aiming at the goal of comprehensively developing students' capacity and qualities; contributing to improving the teaching quality of schools; at the same time being an important information channel to share with parents.
Linking teaching orientation with the 10th grade exam structure
Before the new school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training sent a notice to educational institutions in the city about the format structure and sample questions for the 10th grade high school entrance exam.
According to teachers, the early issuance of the format structure and sample questions for the 10th grade entrance exam helps schools have clear and specific directions to implement teaching and review plans, especially in building test and assessment questions that closely follow the curriculum.
At the training sessions, most of the content focused on guiding grade 9 teachers to perform their professional tasks well to best prepare knowledge for students before taking the grade 10 exam.
Based on the format structure and sample questions of the 10th grade exam, secondary schools in the city will organize for students to get acquainted with the testing and assessment orientation of the new program.
According to Head of the Department of Education and Training of Cau Giay District Pham Ngoc Anh, the timely issuance of the 10th grade exam format structure by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has received great attention from the public, teachers and students. With about 5,000 students taking the 10th grade exam in the 2024-2025 school year, Cau Giay District quickly deployed to 100% of schools in the district to train 9th grade teachers, assigning specialists to accompany schools to overcome difficulties, share experiences to implement necessary content.
“We will develop a detailed teaching plan; help students get familiar with the exam format right from the beginning of the school year, to study and review effectively; from there, the 10th grade exam results will be improved..." - Ms. Dao Thi Hoa, teacher at Cam Thuong Secondary School, Ba Vi district said.
In order to effectively implement the teaching and review work for 9th grade students according to the 2018 General Education Program, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training encourages the Departments of Education and Training and schools to develop common illustrative questions and share them with each other during the review, testing and evaluation process. Illustrative questions can be developed according to the school year schedule or divided into short stages (by month or semester), ensuring that they closely follow the basic content of each subject.
