According to the decision of the Minister of Education and Training, the list of new textbooks to be used in schools from 2023 - 2024 according to the new general education program in grades 4, 8, and 11 includes: Canh Dieu, Connecting knowledge with life, and Creative horizon. These three sets of books belong to the publishers: Vietnam Education Investment and Publishing Joint Stock Company (VEPIC), Vietnam Education Publishing House.
Among the three approved textbook sets, the Canh Dieu set of Vietnam Education Investment and Publishing Joint Stock Company (VEPIC) has the highest price for grades 4, 8 and 11.
Meanwhile, the two book sets Creative Horizons and Connecting Knowledge with Life by Vietnam Education Publishing House are cheaper by 30,000 - 100,000 VND/set.
In addition, currently only the Vietnam Education Publishing House has announced books and prices for English textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11, while the Vietnam Education Publishing and Investment Joint Stock Company (VEPIC) - Canh Dieu Ministry has not announced English books as prescribed.

Compared to the price of textbooks for the old program (87,000 VND/set), the price of new grade 4 textbooks is about 3 times higher, similar to the new price of textbooks for grades 3, 7 and 10 last year. The price of textbooks for grades 8 and 11 also has a similar increase between the new and old programs.
According to statistics, the price of a set of 4th grade textbooks ranges from 182,000 VND/set to 230,000 VND/set (not including English books).
Grade 8 textbooks from 186,000 VND/set to 268,000 VND/set (excluding English books)
Grade 11 textbooks range from VND 130,000/set to VND 167,000/set (excluding English books, local education books and excluding elective subjects and topics).
According to regulations, before releasing textbooks to the market, publishers and book compilation units must declare the retail prices of textbooks for grades 4, 8, and 11 to the Price Management Department (Ministry of Finance) according to regulations.
The new general education program will be applied from the 2020-2021 school year. Currently, the program is applied to grades 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 10. This September, it will be the turn of grades 4, 8, and 11, and by 2025, all grades will study according to the new program.
