(HG) - In order to proactively prevent, respond promptly and effectively, and minimize damage caused by natural disasters in the coming time, the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee has just requested the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue, departments, branches and district-level People's Committees to summarize the work of natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 in accordance with reality; continue to effectively implement regulations and directions of the Central Government and the province on natural disaster prevention, control and search and rescue; make plans to respond to the storm season, check equipment, communications, and estimate budget for directing and overcoming natural disasters in 2025.

Take early precautions to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.

The provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinates with localities to proactively manage, reinforce, and maintain dykes to prevent floods, high tides, and protect agricultural and aquatic production; control the culvert and reservoir systems in rice, aquatic, and fruit areas; adjust the planting schedule to suit saline intrusion, harvest before floods; do not produce the Autumn-Winter crop in weak dyke areas. The Standing Office of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control coordinates with the Hau Giang Provincial Hydrometeorological Station to forecast early and warn of storms, tropical depressions, and floods; organize on-duty shifts, synthesize and report on weather developments and natural disaster damage in a timely manner; regularly monitor and urge units and localities to implement and advise the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and Search and Rescue to promptly direct.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also assigned the Directors of Departments, Heads of relevant agencies and units and Chairmen of District, Town and City People's Committees, according to their assigned functions and tasks, to continue to proactively focus on directing, organizing and closely monitoring the developments of natural disasters, and drastically, promptly and effectively deploying measures to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters. Be more proactive, absolutely do not be negligent or subjective, focus on organizing and implementing the work of preventing, combating and overcoming the consequences of natural disasters in the area according to the motto "four on-site" with the most proactive, timely and drastic spirit to ensure the safety of lives and minimize property damage of the People and the State. Urgently review and complete response plans for each type of natural disaster that may occur in the area; identify key and vulnerable areas to proactively develop scenarios for arranging forces and means to be ready to respond, rescue and search and rescue when situations arise...
