On March 19-20, in Dong Ha City, the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Quang Tri province coordinated with the Plan Project to organize a training conference to strengthen the capacity of the child protection system (CPS) in the community in 2024.

In the training program, 38 trainees who are officers and specialists in charge of child work in sectors and organizations, including: Education and Training, Health, Justice, Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Police, Youth Union, Women's Union at provincial and district levels and heads of Child Protection Executive Boards of 15 communes in the Plan Project area in Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts were equipped with necessary knowledge and skills on child protection, recognizing forms of sexual abuse, sexual harassment of children and the impact of sexual abuse and harassment on children.
Understand the intervention process to support cases of child sexual abuse and identify signs of child sexual abuse, especially methods of intervention, support and psychological first aid for children when violence and abuse occur.

Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Le Nguyen Hong said that Quang Tri province has 182,399 children under 16 years old (accounting for 29% of the population). In recent years, the work of protecting, caring for and educating children in the province has received attention. However, there are still some cases of violence and child abuse.
From 2021 to now, the whole province has had 16 cases of child abuse, including 3 children who were abused and died. Caring for, caring for, and protecting children is the responsibility not only of each family but also of the whole society.
Therefore, to protect children from the risk of abuse, it requires closer coordination between functional sectors, social organizations, unions, families and schools to build a safe environment for children.
It is hoped that the trainees participating in this training will apply the knowledge and skills they have been equipped with and promote their roles, responsibilities, and spirit of action for children to do better in propaganda work on child protection; intervene and support when there are cases of violence and child abuse in a timely, effective and sustainable manner.
