Speaking about some highlights of the Vietnam News Agency's (VNA) external information work in recent years, VNA General Director Vu Viet Trang expressed his honor to host the Conference, emphasizing that the Conference took place at an important time when all levels and sectors assessed the results of the work in the first half of the 13th National Party Congress and proposed key solutions to complete the strategic goals and tasks of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.

According to the General Director of VNA, in the first half of the 13th term of the Party, foreign information has made an important contribution to the country's achievements in many fields. Together with the forces working in foreign information, VNA has comprehensively reflected domestic and international issues and events, creating a consensus and support from public opinion at home and abroad for the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, bringing the image of the country and Vietnamese people to international friends.
VNA also carried out many news and articles to refute wrong and hostile viewpoints, promptly orienting public opinion to contribute to social stability; proactively developed propaganda plans and projects, opened new columns for major topics and important events. Along with that, VNA deployed foreign information through various types of information: text, photos, graphics, television, audio, posted on platforms, and published foreign books including books on current events, events, and multilingual photo books; organized many photo exhibitions and provided photos to partners about the relations between Vietnam and other countries during visits by high-ranking leaders, on the occasion of the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations....
At the Conference, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for External Information Le Hai Binh presented Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW dated June 15, 2023 of the Politburo on continuing to improve the quality and effectiveness of external information work in the new situation.

At the Conference, delegates also listened to the Steering Committee's Summary Report on the results of activities in the first 6 months of the year, directions and key tasks for the last 6 months of 2023. In the context of the world situation continuing to develop rapidly, complicatedly and unpredictably; the domestic socio-economic situation facing many difficulties and challenges, the Steering Committee has led and directed the implementation of a methodical, proactive, timely, synchronous and effective organization of foreign information work nationwide.
Concluding the Conference, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Head of the Steering Committee for External Information Work Nguyen Trong Nghia highly appreciated the results achieved by the Steering Committee for External Information Work in the first 6 months of the year, as well as half of the 13th National Party Congress term.
With the new spirit of Conclusion No. 57-KL/TW, to effectively implement foreign information work in the last 6 months of the year, towards the 14th National Party Congress, the Head of the Steering Committee for Foreign Information Work requested that the Steering Committee and the forces working on foreign information work continue to thoroughly grasp the policy of "strengthening foreign information" and "strengthening and improving the effectiveness of applying new communication technology and social networks in foreign information and public opinion fighting".
Units need to continue to innovate their thinking and methods of implementing foreign information work; improve the quality of consulting, directing and coordinating work; resolutely and persistently fight against false and distorted arguments; further improve the effectiveness of research and forecasting work and the ability and mechanism to respond quickly to strategic changes in the international and regional environment...
