Data reported by Vietnam Air Services Company (VASCO) shows that incidents involving birds and wild animals at Con Dao Airport in the first 4 months of 2023 have tended to increase. Notably, these incidents are repetitive, threatening safety and affecting flight operations.
Faced with this reality, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested that VASCO immediately report any incidents or dangers from birds, wild animals, or pets occurring at Con Dao airport.
The Civil Aviation Authority also requested the Vietnam Airlines Corporation (ACV) to review the data reported on incidents related to bird strikes and wild animals, and re-evaluate safety indicators and safety targets at Con Dao airport according to regulations.
To limit incidents, the Civil Aviation Authority requested ACV to direct Con Dao Airport to review the bird, wildlife, and livestock control program that has been issued, the bird control measures that have been and are being implemented, and evaluate the implementation results according to regulations.
The Southern Airports Authority is responsible for strengthening inspections and promptly urging Con Dao Airport to fully implement measures to control birds, wild animals and livestock at the port.
