Speaking at the orientation of the Seminar, comrade Bui Ngoc Quy said that social evils have been causing harm in many aspects to the country's socio-economic life, negatively affecting the cultural beauty and health of the people, causing insecurity and social disorder. In recent times, the Party and the State have had many policies and preventive measures to limit and eliminate social evils, ensuring that every person and every family has a prosperous and happy life.
The Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress affirmed: “Continue to strengthen the fight against social evils”. Although the work of preventing and combating social evils has been carried out with the efforts of Party committees, authorities at all levels, sectors, people from all walks of life, and the entire political system. To strengthen the advisory work in the field of social evils prevention and control in the coming time, comrade Bui Ngoc Quy suggested that the speakers focus on discussing a number of contents: Assessing the current status of advisory work and the results of implementing social evils prevention and control work from the practices of a number of ministries, branches and localities; clarifying the obstacles, difficulties, causes and experiences in advisory work, implementing social evils prevention and control work; proposing a number of tasks and solutions to improve the effectiveness of advisory work on social evils prevention and control in the spirit of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress.
Assessing the current social evils, a representative of the Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that prostitution is becoming more complicated in terms of scale, nature and methods of operation. Prostitution in public places has been on a sharp decline, replaced by many secretive methods of operation, with many potential risks. Prostitution has been transformed into "contracts", "call girl" networks are sophisticated, operating inter-provincially, with foreign elements in many forms.
Drug abuse is also complicated, increasing in both quantity and nature, becoming increasingly dangerous and difficult to control. According to statistics, there are currently 191,410 drug addicts nationwide. The situation of drug addicts using multiple types of drugs at the same time is increasingly common, with the rate of synthetic drug use accounting for about 70-80% of drug addicts. The situation of human trafficking continues to be complicated. According to incomplete reports from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of provinces and cities, in the first 6 months of 2023, the number of people received and verified was 110; 81 people have been identified as victims of trafficking...
