In recent days, the lotus pond with an area of about 5,000m2 of a girl in the West has attracted the attention of many people, because of hundreds of flower varieties blooming with diverse shapes and brilliant colors.
The owner of this lotus pond is Ms. Le Thi Sanh (33 years old, Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang province). What is special is that Ms. Sanh grows lotus right under her family's 10,000m2 durian garden. Ms. Sanh shared that she started growing lotus flowers in 2023. Initially, she bought a few types to try, but seeing that the plants grew and developed well and produced flowers all year round, she decided to spend money to buy ornamental lotus flowers from Thailand and Australia to plant and propagate. Up to now, she owns nearly 100 varieties of water lilies with many different colors such as: blue, purple, yellow, orange, multi-color (many colors on 1 flower)... Of which, purple and multi-color yellow plants have the highest value. “I grow the lotus flower in a pond under the durian garden, so when I fertilize the plants, the fertilizer flows down the ditch into the pond and is ready for the plants. The amount of fertilizer is just enough to help the plants grow well and save costs,” said Ms. Sanh. According to Ms. Sanh, ornamental lotus flowers cost from 50,000 VND to several million VND/plant (depending on the type). In addition, she also cuts flowers and sells them for 60,000 VND/10 flowers. Currently, she sells thousands of plants to the market every month, mainly through social networks and e-commerce platforms. Compared to other ornamental plants, Ms. Sanh believes that planting, caring for, and packaging water lilies for sale is less difficult and the income is also more stable. On the other hand, water lilies also help her nurture her durian garden in the first years of planting, and now the garden is about to bear fruit. Many people who accidentally passed by and saw the beautiful lotus pond asked to come in to admire, check-in, and take pictures with the flowers in the pond. Most of them praised and expressed their interest in this special flower pond.
