Today, August 19, is the first day for candidates admitted to the 2024 university entrance exam at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry to complete admission procedures. At 4 a.m., hundreds of new students and their parents were already at the school because they were "too impatient".

"Not confident about enrolling online"

MSc. Nguyen Thi Thuong, Director of the Information and Communication Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said: "Previously, the school announced that candidates who were officially admitted to the school would complete the admission procedures online from August 19 to 27.

However, from 2:30 a.m., there were cars with license plates from Bac Lieu and some provinces in the Southwest region arriving. From 4:30 a.m., the school had a lot of people waiting to do the admission procedures."

According to Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - head of the school's training department, this year, to help new students, especially those living far away, have less trouble with admission procedures, the school encourages online admission procedures.

"Since the beginning of August 2024, the school has had detailed instructions on the online admission process for new students of the 20th course of the 2024-2025 school year. But from early this morning, new students and their parents were still present at the school waiting to complete the admission procedures.

Among the successful candidates, many who live far away want to come to school to register for the dormitory, so they come early to complete the procedures," Mr. Nhan added.

Many cars with provincial license plates carry new students to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry to complete admission procedures from early morning.

Experience from previous years, although implementing online admission procedures, today the school also assigned admission support staff to promptly receive new students.

Mr. Pham Van Sinh, parent of new student Pham Van Hung (Tuy Hoa, Phu Yen), said: "Hearing that my child was admitted on Saturday, yesterday my child and I took a bus to Saigon. We also knew about the online admission information but were not assured, and also looking for a place for my child to stay because we heard that the school dormitory was not enough so we had to go early."

Meanwhile, Nguyen Quang Huy (Kien Tuong, Long An) said: "My school also has 3 students who were admitted. Because I had been to the school once before, we drove up early this morning. I went there to find a place to stay and was also excited. I had completed the online admission procedures early in the morning."

Volunteers who assist new students with admission procedures also arrive very early at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry to guide students and parents.

According to regulations, candidates are required to confirm their admission online on the Ministry of Education and Training's general admission support system before 5:00 p.m. on August 27.

New student Ban Xuan Hoa (Soc Trang) shared: "I got on the bus late last night because I was afraid that there would be problems with the online check-in process, but they immediately gave me instructions. I texted the fanpage and the teachers told me to hurry up and complete the procedures, so I got on the bus for peace of mind. When I arrived at school at dawn, I saw a lot of people."

Schools are not allowed to close before 5:00 p.m. on August 27.

The Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) noted that schools must require all candidates to confirm their first round of admission online on the system, before enrolling at the school.

Confirmation of admission is a mandatory requirement for all candidates who wish to study in the major they have been admitted to.

The Ministry has also requested that universities not finish confirming admission or finishing admission before 5:00 p.m. on August 27 (including for joint training programs with foreign countries).

After this time, candidates who do not confirm admission will be considered to have refused admission and will be removed from the admission list.

If you do not want to study the major you have been admitted to in the first round, you do not need to confirm your admission. When the deadline expires, you will be removed from the list of admitted candidates. At that time, you can apply for additional admission at schools that are still recruiting.
