On the evening of December 12, in the second match of Group B of the 2024 AFF Cup, the Philippines team welcomed Myanmar at Rizal Memorial Stadium. This was the first match of coach Albert Capellas and his team in this tournament.

From this point on, the Philippines team almost completely dominated the game. They controlled the ball, created many good chances but the chances kept slipping past the home strikers. In the end, the Philippines and Myanmar teams tied 1-1. They ranked 3rd and 4th in Group B respectively with 1 point.
