“Over the past 25 years of establishment and development, the cooperation in the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area has helped promote economic, trade and people-to-people exchanges between the three countries, contributing to improving the lives of the people of the three countries, especially those living in this area. Vietnam will continue to closely coordinate with Cambodia and Laos to successfully organize the Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle Area Summit, scheduled to take place in December this year in Cambodia,” said Vietnamese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang.
The initiative to establish the Development Triangle was proposed by former Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia Hun Sen at the first summit meeting of the three Prime Ministers of Cambodia - Laos - Vietnam in Vientiane in 1999.
The Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Development Triangle is a border area of three countries: Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. The scope of this Development Triangle includes 13 provinces, namely Ratanakiri, Stung Treng, Mondulkiri and Kratié in Eastern Cambodia, Attapu, Salavan, Sekong and Champasak in Southern Laos, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Binh Phuoc in the Central Highlands of Vietnam.
